Heard CO is going to change the draw/points next go-around.

They said to help the "points creep" they will give 50% of tags to those with points as normal, the other 50% will be a " name from a hat" draw--- so if you have 25 points for a specific area, your chance of getting that tag will be 50% less and a guy with no poins might be able to get the same tag.

mixed feelings- what you think?

I'm on the fence. I think the points is the best way. Someone could just "randomly draw every year. They what the heck am I paying for. I'm already not happy that I'm several years deep into another elk tag and was "supposed to have enough points to draw last year. Till I was informed it moved one more point up. Draw is still the best option. Where the scam come in is forcing people to buy a small game to enter. So out of state like me is forced to pay over $100 every year just to go for points. That's a scam. Can't wait till I draw. Then I will never get into it again. I'm not finding that garbage anymore. I'll pay extra to a landowner or outfitter for a voucher. Screw handing more money to the state. They Will just use it to bring in more wolfs.

Funky rising points system can mean you'd pay $10k plus for an elk landowner tag in a "prime" area--- nobody wins but the guy who is getting paid

Africa just became a lot more attractive. Lots of places to hunt all over the world. It's now moving from a wish list to a financially better options to hunt outside the states.

I figured that out 40 years ago. An Alaska bear hunt was $20K and Africa was a fourth of that. I have a red stag hunt in Romania this September that will be $5500, including air fare. I won't live long enough to draw a bull elk tag in the US. It sucks, but the reality is hunting in the US is getting beyond the reach of the average person.

Agreed. What a pile of excrement. Yay, I have a small game license that I'll never use. It's just a money grab.
I think it would be nice if you had a chance every year, but it should be a small chance, like 5% of the tags, not 50%.
