Christenson Arms reviews wanted

If light weight is what sells you on christensen. I know a smith that just finished a 300 ultra that is shooting in the .2's and weighs in at 5.5 lbs. He used a rem titanium, abs barrel turned down to a litle under .750, in a lonewolf stock. He does actualy shoot every rifle he builds, it wont leave his shop if it doesn't shoot. This type of smith will only build you quality rifles. Go with christensen if you are looking to buy a "trophy paper weight" in my opinion. 1 out of 3 doesn't seem like good odds, and thats what I got when I gave them 3 chances. IF YOU WANT CARBON FIBER GO WITH ABS !! Choose a quality smith, there are quit affew that frequent this site.
thats just my opinion,

I personally know of 2 of their guns around where I shoot, one is a .300 WSM and performs well with re-loads, it will put 3 165 grain bullets in under .4, but with not factory ammo. I know because I am the one that got it to shoot, it belongs to a friend. Another was a .300RUM another friend owned it, and it made several trips back to the Christenson factory but never improved, after poor customer service and several phone calls, they offered him a refund minus a re-stock fee. He fought it, saying it never met their so called warranty and they finally gave him all of his money back, but it took some time and lots of phone calls from him. Both were the lightweight version with wrapped barrels. Ron Tilley

If you use the search feature you will find that the general feeling or our members is that, for the money spent, you'd probably be better off contacting one of the well known smiths that advertise here and talk to them about what you are looking for.

I'd venture a well educated guess that you could, and would, end up with a better product for less money by going through one of the above mentioned smiths. When it came time for me to plunk down my own personal bucks this is what I did, and it's what I'll do next time. These guys can give you as little, or as much as you want and it'll be something that you'll be happy with.:)

I came to this sight looking for reviews on the Christensen carbon barrels, but a quick read on this site has me disregarding that manufacturer. Is there a smith you recommend? I have a Keymod Mega Maten 308 receiver set and hope to bulid a 20" 308 upper. I would be interested in carbon and heard that Proof Research makes great carbon barrels, but I just watched my friend wait nearly a year to get his. Another option would be a stainless (other light option?) HBAR deeply fluted and ceracoted black.

Dallas Lane makes awesome rifles that are shooters.

I too am very new to the site. I'm here looking for another Remington 700 220 swift. I have a Christensen 220 swift I picked up from a buddy on a trade. The barrel shoots as good as I can shoot not knowing anything about shooting. And it does it all with Factory Hornady 55gr V-max ammo. I'm very happy with the barrel however have no dealings with the customer service. Good luck!

Mitchbcs,
That's an impressive group. Thanks

I have two Christenson Arms Summit Titanium rifles (titanium action, carbon fiber barrel, and thumbhole stock): one in .300 WinMag, and one in 26 Nosler. I can't say anything bad about them and wouldn't trade them. When I do my part, they will shoot 1/2 MOA.
