Chambering both ends of a barrel - Project "Carnival Hotdog Barrel"

JECustom, I really trying to prove anything really, just that it could be done. I get pretty bored here between hunting seasons. Originally I wanted to chamber each end in a different caliber but I didn't have different .22 reamer other than my 220 Swift and I didn't want to buy or rent one just for this project. It was fun, good chambering practice and I learned a lot.

Timnterra, You're right. Originally it was going to be a legal length but I needed to move up the barrel more than I thought to get the proper thread depth. This whole project went from start to the trash can in a couple days.

That's kind of what I thought.

That's what the other guy did and like I said, he wasn't as forthcoming about the end results as you were. maybe this will keep others from trying it. (it will Me).

I also try lots of things and they don't always work out ether.

Learning is always good no matter how much we think we know. and practice can always help anyone.

PS: nice setup and I chamber almost the same way (I no longer use a reamer holder for many reasons).

I was considering having a muzzle counterbored about .030" larger than the bullet diameter to a depth just past the muzzle brake threads. Does this experience mean my idea is no good?

The only thing I can tell you Edd is that We found that accuracy degraded if we recessed the barrel over one caliber from the front of the first baffle.
( if the port opening was 1/4'' .058 thousandths set back for a .308 was max) flush was ideal.

If the barrel is flush with the back of the first port, gas is not hindered getting out, much like a crown.

I don't know if it would hurt, but our test indicate that it would/could.
