Cell Phones🤬

Yes, I've been there!!
Now:
#1:Silent Mode switch on side of phone, lets messages and missed calls in, for 0 noise
#2: Airplane in settings, My phone all gone, anywhere, just good for time and date
#3 My hunting buddy has a digital watch that beeps several times through the day and he still gets deer,
a setting he has never figured out from new, how to make go away.

Why would you carry a phone while hunting? All of my younger friends and hunting companions do, because they use OnX mapping app. I have OnX on a Garmin (silent and lighter) and you don't have to download the area you're hunting, it covers the entire state. Most places I hunt don't have phone coverage. That is part of the beauty of hunting.

I found out during a graduation ceremony that turning the little switch on the side doesn't silence your alarms.

Merry Christmas to all.
Paper maps and compass here, the cell is off and in the day pack.
The thought of a smart watch connected to a smartphone is an anathema to me.

Well I am 71 with health problems, a wife that is 41 years married so I bring phone, I ALWAYS switch off on the edge but brain fart happened. Always a first time for everything but I will damnguaranttee it will NEVER happen again! Then again, I did get a one heck of a funny story to tell. Luckily it wasn't a 170 class buck or I might have tried to see if my xbow would do pass through!

I rarely have a cell with me when I hunt and would usually not have service if I did. We have a lot of large dead areas here in WY. I make sure I hunt a dead area by forgetting the phone in the truck. As a matter of fact, my phone sits in the truck many weekends so my house is a dead zone.

Oh....who was she married too? Or did you mean she's 41 and married?

Health problems? Are your feet still growing? Merry Christmas guys.

PLEASE don't even think that! I have to buy new Burly's and cannot find my size anymore and LaCrosse doesn't seem to carry the Saquatch size any more.
I've got some bear paw snowshoes that I rarely use any more. You and my youngest son can just strap to your stocking feet. Wear a couple pair of socks for warmth.

Hahaha…once while officiating a worship service at a nursing home my phone went off…I was a new pastor at the time, panicked, and just discretely threw my phone into a compartment in the pulpit that had a closing door. I thought it would go off eventually. It did not. It was an alarm I had set for some reason. But I got away with it: they were all so deaf nobody heard anything, I was apologizing profusely and nobody knew what the heck I was talking about 🤣.

On a serious note, I'm not a pastor for much longer. The small town baptist church I've pastored for almost 9 years is permanently closing effective December 31. Tomorrow i lead our congregation through their last service together, ever, in a church that has been here for 93 years. If any of you are praying people, I'd appreciate your prayers. This is going to be hard. This has been the most meaningful thing I've done in my life, along with being a father.

Merry Christmas everybody!
Hey Pastor - Merry Christmas to you and yours. You're in my prayers for God's direction in the next season of your life. My church (baptist as well) went through a difficult time a few years ago and it was hard then to see anything good come of it. But, God is faithful and His blessings are new every morning. Looking forward to hear about what He has planned for you!

re: phone ringing ... I had a pastor that, when a phone went off in service, said "Unless that's God calling, hit mute". I always toyed with standing up and saying "Hey Pastor Chuck. It IS God! It's for you!" :)

We were good enough friends that I could probably have gotten away with it, but also good enough friends that I wouldn't have done it.

Ok, I didn't think I could top this but I just did tonight. Hunting same spot but this time using my climber just inside woods off field. Perfect wind again. And no 🤬 phone was in silent mode but the phone does come to play. Deer pile in around me but do not move off and hang up about 40 yds. Pitch dark and they are not moving an inch! I scrolled through my phone for a coyote howl. Nope, cannot find it and I know I have one. 🤬 I did find an elk bugle, yep dialed it up and bull bugle rang thru trees like in CO! The deer froze! I thought this should work! Nope! They started to walk TOWARD me! WTH!? Elk bugle calls them in? Are you kidding me!🤬 So now maybe 20 yards from tree, hear them but cannot see them. I scroll thru again and find bull elephant trumpeting! WTH! Dialed it up and holy crap! They obviously did not like that and were bouncing off trees getting out of Dodge! Screwed that set up! But to hear them blasting out snorting and blowing hundreds of yards away made me laugh and then oh crap this place is now dead. I did find the yote yowl in a different folder on phone🤬
