for years I have been casting a 30 cal 168 grn rn/gc. It is a layman mould with 7 greese grooves (one of them ends up to be dirrectly infront of the gas check).
I use old wheel wieghts as the casting material and fire it out of a 308win (a wwII mausser convert). I put ? grns of unique, (I never give out my acctual load info, and leave it it up to you to develop your own load) with std primers. If you have a lyman 45th eddition go to the cast section.
Anyway been an obviously SLOOOWW load it is not any good for anything but this because of the need to use a verry differant scope setting. But, it is great fun and I do mean great fun for up to 400yrd gopher shooting.
As you may suspect due to the slow velosity and the big arch that is reqiured to get this out to 4oo yrds, you can take your shot gun), and look into your spotting scope to see the rnd strike .
Just for fun, get a mold, get a lead bullet reloading manual and give it a try. It is a lot of fun and you can shoot all day. The recoil is almost non existant and because you can use unique the cost is for powder works out to less than your primer and gas check .
This is just another way to make your shooting another experiance lightbulb.
