Just out of curiosity, were the primer pockets loose when you tried to re-prime? One of the problems with getting someone else's brass is never knowing the load they used relative to pressure in their rifle versus yours.

If the used brass chambered fine before firing your load could be over pressure. Work up a load for your new brass. Case capacity will be different so your load may be to hot for your new brass also.
