I use either Federal or CCI primers almost exclusively. I don't hoard them, I simply buy 1000 at a time and start shopping for replacements when I hit the "500 on hand" level. I do have preferences (for CCI brand I prefer CCI BR primers) but if I can't find those I generally settle for what's available. I've found it to be a good idea to try various primers and become familiar with what works for me and what doesn't. Most of the shops in my area have no objection to breaking up a box to sell you a pack of 100 so you can try them without having a thousand lying around that you'll never use. So my advice would be to buy what's available and enjoy your shooting sport. Just keep your eyes open for the special primer you might prefer and buy it when it hits the shelves.
