I am getting my Browning A-BOLT rebarreled to a 280AI. My gunsmith called and said he is about 2-3 weeks from chambering the barrel. It is a 26" 1:8 Shilen in a #4 or 5 contour, cant remember. I plan to shoot 160-175grn bullets with RL23 and Peterson cases. Question is, should I get it throated for the 175's, 160's or leave it to SAAMI specs? Any advice is appreciated.

If you're shooting 160s, get it chambered for those, otherwise you'll rue the jump when shooting lighter bullets. The 175s will still load just fine.

cool build, I have a 280 abolt for this exact project. 24" Bob Jury barrel, #2 contour throated for 160-162 grain bullets, 1:9 twist.
I have the same barrel in 7 mag that shoots awesome with 168 Nosler lrab

I shoot the 175g Nosler LRAB with 56g of IMR 7828, Federal 210*, PMC and Lapua 30/06 formed brass and shoot dots with the SAAMI chamber.

Browning mags are not very long, and I would not lengthen throats.
I would have to modify the mag box, which isn't a big deal. What speeds are you getting?
