Brown bear Rifle

If you don't mind going for a new gun, consider a Ruger Guide Gun in 338 win mag or even a 375 ruger. The short, handy rifle is perfect for hunting dangerous game. They may be a bit ugly, but once you handle one, a long rifle seems completely cumbersome.

They make very sturdy guns.

Planning on a once in a lifetime brown bear Alaskan hunt in a couple years. Have a 300 Win Mag that shoots 220 Nosler partitions and 200 Nosler partitions quite well. Don't really want to buy another rifle but should I move up to a 338 class? Thinking of either a 33 Nosler, 338 WM or 338 ultra??? Opinions???

Don't make no sense to me .You got the 300 win. I'd tuck my wallet away. What was I thinking ? If you can afford Brown in Alaska I might as well go bigger bore.Have fun. I shoot a 300 Roy I'd take it north by God.

I killed my Mtn Grizz with a 300RUM, shooting 200gr Accubonds.

I know it's not a brown bear, but it squared 8.5ft, so it wasn't a small one.

Bullet performance was picture perfect...

If I ever get to hunt big brownies, I think I'd just switch the bullet to 200gr Aframes and not look back

Just my 2 cents 358 STA with a 254gr. hammer bullet or a 375 of your choosing with that said your 300wm will get the job done just not my first choice on an animal that could eat you

JMW67 and I think alike.
My brother worked in Alaska for several years and worked on top drive systems for single and double stack oil rigs.The guys he worked with used 30-06 for their bears but did not hunt the larger bears.
The rig company man used a 375 for his coastal grizzley.
A 358 Norma Mag is plenty enough as well as the 358 STA.
I second Woodleigh bullets or swift a-frame's

Actually - Grizs are members of the Brown Bear family - about half as big as the 10 foot Kodiaks that can get to 1,400 lbs.

But an 8.5 is plenty big - well over 700 lbs ?

It was a big one for sure. Skull made the all time book green scored. Need to get it officially measured.
