Brass fire forming...thingy

Just spoke with a class III dealer, he was on par with you guys about the SBR. He said cut the barrel to 16.25" and run a boring bar down to open the bore and problem solved.
Thanks for the heads up guys. I figured with 90,000+ members on this site, someone would see the stupid in my thinking.:D
Anyone else see another folly in this.

My first thought was how thin the chamber walls will be on that H&R when you open it up with the cheytac diameter reamer.

Other than that I like the idea and I've actually done something similar. I used an old cut down burnt out barrel to make a fire forming barrel for my 375 BME. The barrel was only 12" long after chopping it down. To get around the SBR issues I just mounted it on a receiver that I had registered as a handgun for one of my specialty pistols. Then I just held it in a set of barrel blocks and went to town.

Maybe it would be worth tracking down an inexpensive single shot pistol like a CVA scout. They're only about $350 and you could get replacement barrels cheap for any other forming barrels you wanted to make.

I was just looking into ordering a specific receiver (registered as a pistol) for this, they are about $90, and putting a pistol grip on the rear.
The barrel measures 1.1" at the breach and the cartridge rim diameter is .642. That leaves .229, think that's enough for fire forming loads?
