Are we having a Brass Crisis? I see Brass Prices skyrocketing. I don't see brass anywhere for 33 Nosler or 33 Dakota. When I checked on Remington RUM brass it was not in stock anywhere. What is a Wildcatter to do if he can't get Brass?

Many times there are other cases that will substitute for the one you have with little or no forming. These can be used in a pinch even with the wrong case head stamp. When I wildcat, I first try to find at least 200 rounds of brass, preferably 300 rounds and check to see if there is an substitute case that I can use.

If I can buy the brass, I do so and start the project. Most cases can be substituted with something else if you look hard enough. There are only a few case head sizes and many different cases use the same case head size.

In the case of the 300 RUM, There are other brands of brass available like the Norma that are very good even though they may cost more.
When you find good bulk brass for hard to find cases, buy 2 or 300 of them and end your worries.

I have Wildcat's based on many different RUMs and sometimes find a bag of brass in the strangest places. I buy it and add it to what I have.

This is one of the places a wildcatter has to plan ahead and stash a lifetime supply. He can always sell it if he doesn't need it once he has enough.
