The "Black Talon" bullet slightly changed and rebranded as the SXT is NOT the same as the Golden Saber. I have thousands of these and have loaded them for decades. The Golden Saber has a brass jacket and reduced caliber bore riding frontal section and does not have the internal fold in the jacket hollow point like the copper jacketed SXT/Black Talon does nor the sharp jacket points that raised such an issue with puncturing doctors gloves. The expansion dynamics are different also.

I didn't think that this Thread would get this much interest. Just wanted to show the price of $10.99 twenty years ago.
The reference on Black Talons & Golden Sabers was just that the person that designed the Black Talon left Winchester - Olin after the issues came up when a people were shot with a Black Talon. Then that person joined Remington and designed the Golden Saber-not the same as the Black Talon-different, but similar destructive results.

i thought the rumor years ago was that the black coating was teflon and it allowed them to slip through bullet proof vests.

If you are not using them. keep them in the "New" condition. They keep going up in price, just for the sake of owning them.

Winchester pulled them from sale to the public in 1993, but that doesn't mean they stopped production.

Several of us bought quite a few de-milled pulled Black Talons back in the day, and then later, I was able to locate a supplier who had purchased a sizeable lot of the "new" Ranger SXT de-mills. Then, the price was very reasonable, and today, they are worth their weight in gold.

Was referring to the pistol caliber Black Talon bullets I and a few others use in reloading. As for who is buying and GB, there have been some insane $ amounts bid on some original Winchester BT pistol loads, and locally, I have had a few people offer some nutty $ numbers for my pulled BT pistol bullets. Alas being nearly impossible now to find, I prefer to keep them to load than need or want the money.

If you wish to sell those 308 Black Talons, I am sure there are several people who will buy them. Personally, I have no experience with the rifle Black Talons.

I never knew that Winchester made the Black Talon in rifle cartridges. I would like to see a box of them with the caliber, bullet weight and a picture of the bullet.

Here you go. I picked these up a number of years ago from an estate sale. I'm pretty sure that price sticker is from Gart Brothers before they closed down. Oops - nope. Zoom in shows Sports Authority, I believe.
