Black Bear Lottery

MD only gives out so many permits and has a lottery system for the tags that are given out.
Bingo, my number came up this year!

I'll have to check but I think it starts October 21 and runs one week. I'll have to get started on some locations and scouting.
Killed a bear years ago but that was in Canada.

They have had a few nice bears there over the years.

I scouted a new to me area yesterday and saw a nice bear and some fresh sign.

You can get 2 OTC tags in NH. The bear population here is ridiculous

Congrats on the tag. I just got back from working a show in Sevierville, TN. I've spent a great deal of time in the TN mountains over the years and saw a fair number of bears. Most of them were small. I was surprised to see this fat bear feeding on honeysuckle right next to the place I was staying. He had no fear of us and walked right past us.

If you do get permission I'd take an AR10.
Just to prove to Brandon that you DO need an AR for hunting.

Ya know, if you wanted to hunt black bear every year, it's just a matter of purchasing a bear stamp in PA.
No lottery.
Season is 4 days for rifle, right before Thanksgiving.
Early season for archery and muzzleloader is towards the end of Oct.
