I shoot a .338-.408 suppressed and there is significantly more recoil than with the brake.

Went back to admire that beauty again. Interesting bedding. Looks like 2 or so inches of barrel bedded forward of recoil lug. Not familiar with 50 cal actions...do I see that right ?

I love curly maple. Been wanting to try that dye as well. And now I know where to start !!!

Correct, I "chamber bedded" 3" of barrel. I made 5/8" pillars for this massive action. The action runs 5/16" action screws.
