Best hunting scope

If cost is not an issue, I would suggest getting a couple ZCO, TT, Nightforce ATACR and March scopes. Then just test until you know what you like.

Search function is great.

If you are spending most of your time shooting past 600 yards with this optic, take the weight and get a 5-25x56 type of scope.

5-25x56 schmidt and bender pmii
5-27x56 zero comp
5-25x56 Tangent theta
Kahles is also a good option.

Also look at what reticles will fit your shooting style best.
It it's paper or small targets go with a thin reticle like the gen 2 xr.
If it's steel and you need speed then you might like the ZCO reticle or the S&B H2CMR type of reticles.

Schmidt and Bender, and ZCO also have 5-20x50 scopes that are shorter and lighter than their 5-25 big brothers. Tangent theta has 3-15s.
Still not very light weight compared to hunting scopes, but you need the reliable mechanics of these optics when dialing.

Leica magnus, swaro z8, Zeiss v8, Schmidt ultrabright/exos.
Agree with Ucsdryder, what's your priorities and intended use, are you hunting a lot during late hours, do you dial to 1000 on a rare occasion or frequently, light as in regards to what, what ret and so on.

The secondary or follow up question will be…

Is the tangent really that much better and worth the extra $?

Tangent Theta TT315M 3-15×50 or TT315H 3-15×50 @ 27oz each. Unparalleled performance. Plenty of scope for steel or hunting out to 1500 unless you are shooting at 1000+ yard prairie dogs.

March F 3-24×52 would be my distant 2nd suggestion @ 24oz. I sold mine after a couple years for another TT315M.

Others to consider (and if weight is acceptable, I would opt for over the March F):

Schmidt & Bender PMII 5-20×50 Ultra Short (but ONLY on a short action, and kind of depends on your action) @ 30oz

Vortex Razor LHT 4.5-22×50. These are not in the same playing field as the above scopes, but for a lot less $, they are surprisingly decent. I have not had one long enough to really run it through a lot of rounds and dialing, but they seem pretty decent for tracking. But at 22oz, that really helps make it more desirable.

This might be worse than asking which diesel truck is best. You'll get a guy that recommends leupold then another that says he's seen 10 fail and would never own one. Best thing you can do is start searching and reading. Be wary of the vailed advertisements. Lots of guys pimping scopes because they get free stuff.

You need to rank priorities, top to bottom. I think that'll help.

Weight
Glass quality
Zero stop
Locking turrets
Durability
Ultra durability
Zoom range
Price
Illumination

For example…a night force is ultra durable, but that durability comes with a significant weight vs something like a vortex LHT that might not have the same durability but is sub 20 ounces.
I totally agree I'm just trying to see if there is some stuff out there I haven't already looked at. Thanks

i recently went through the decision/evaluation process between a couple of the "best" Alpha-grade scopes. It became immediately obvious that the "Wisdom of Crowds" has little bearing on ones particular requirements and use. The term "Best" is qualitative, begging for opinion, biased, and has a lack of specificity.

I am very happy with my. Leupold. VX3. HDWindplex ! 8.5 X to 25X with. Horizontal. Wind plex reticle ! 30 mm. Main tube And a 50 mm. Objective Lens. Worked really well for two days of LR shooting at Bang Steel shooting school.Targets at 700 ,800,1000 and 1200 yards! I hit them all ! It's mounted on Weatherby mark V Hunting rifle ! I use Leupold Dual Dove tail rings and bases ! I'm sure there are many fine scopes, but I have no issues with this scope! It's about $1500.00 now !!
