Berger Bullets vs TSX bullets

i have switched to the 145lrx in 7mm and taken 4 anamals with them one cow elk passed a 1000 yds. also are useing them out of my 300 wby. the 200gr lrx at 2950 and taken 3 whitetail doe's at 400yds,584yds and 735yds all made nice one shot kills

Great shots i like i like the barnes ttsx for close to medium range but for my antalope hunts i have to resight my gun in everytime for the amax but know with that info i think i mighta found my all around bullet for my 300 winie would outa personal oppinion which would be beter the 200gr or the 175 im currently using 180s

for me the 200 lrx works great i'm going to try the 175 to see what it does i like the idea of higher velocity and more weight retension. the 175 is rated.509 bc and if it is like the rest of there bullets the bc will be alot higher then advertised.

The 168TTSX is doing quite well out of my 7.82 Patriot, I'm really getting excited about this combo... of course I switched to the 168 right before the 175 LRX came out. Go figure!

This is interesting to me guys. At what distances are you realising the higher BC's and what numbers are you getting? Also are you using G1 or G7 BC's?

i have noticed that my number can be as high as 100 points higher on my 7mm 300 wby(145lrx) with the bullet moving 3500 i use a 620 to 1000 yds. i have been using a G1 bc to fig my drops. the 200 lrx(300wby) i think it is about 6 or a little over.i come by these by maping my drops to 1000 yards. i just havnt got to the 308 bullets tested yet. it dawned on me that there was a differance when we got our first range turrent maked in yds.we were shooting flatter then the turrent.so we setup and started mapping out are true drops. and then talked to ty at barnes about a dozen times and figured out that all there 300yd testing leaves the bc short. for the new bc programs. oh and they refuse to adust them for the long range guys.
the other thing everyone needs to remember is bc's rise the faster the bullet moves all companys test there bullets at 3000 fps or in that area.so if you shoot be low that they drop of a little. most poeple would never realize this it is when you start pushing the limits of the bullets it really becomes noticable. the last thing is you can call most companys if they don't list there bc tested fps to make sure you are on the right track. jeff if you would like give me a call i might not have explained it right. in writing rick

I have not found this to be true. I have actually seen the BC rise as a bullet slows and then fall again. I have come to learn BC is not lineal to velocity.

i have not seen that in the maping i have done but i have only went to 1000yds and only lite bullets. in all the classes i have been to that has never come up is interesting to hear that side.

I hope Bryan Litz will see this and comment. It has shown up for me under 1000 as well as on past.

I am no expert here, just relaying what I have seen as I thought you would be interested.

Ok sorry to ask this ? on this forum since it is totaly off the subject but just got into an argument with one of my cop buddies about what will happen when our governmet tries to take away ALL of our guns. He believes that the us citizens will have no choice and will be forced to give up their guns and their will be no fight because american people wont stand up for what they believe in now adays. I said to him he couldent be anymore wrong and i believe civil war will break . so i fuigured how bout i ask u guys for your oppinion. if the governent came nocking on your door how many of you would hand over your firearms without a fight i know how much my guns mean to me & didnt spend thousands of dollars on them to just let them be taken from me

Start new in General discusion. You guys are making me nervious w/ Berger. I have taken speed goats from 5-600 w/ 87 gr. Then a couple w/300 gr. due to bad wind reads on trophy goats,550-800 yrd. Summary, blew big holes in them. Shot a 6x6 in thick stuff this year? Entrance and exit fist sized on 50 yrd. brush shoot. Copious amounts of blood.So I went out today and took leg bone from elk, off ball joint area and shot at 200 yrd w/ 325 WSM-200 NAB. clean hole in and split ball joint, broke and about 1/2 dollar crater on back. Shot same w/338 Norma 300 gr.Blew leg bone in half @ center. Then shot larger end joint,about a fist and 1/2, had leg wired to 1/2 osb at range.Shot grenaded the joint into pieces and blew a grapefruit sized hole threw OSB.Now this is larger than . 308. But since I already shot a bull close, in tough conditions, and totally blew up large leg joint, I Have NO, reservations out of my 338 w/ 300 Berger

thanks jeff it does make sense i just havnt seen it yet i do know once you go sub sonic things change alot. it would explain some flat spots i have seen in the mapping i done with the 145lrx. i had a change between 700 and 850 with them and that would explain it. and it has been 20 plus years since i have been to any classes things and ways of thought change alot.
6x6 nice test we have ball gellitin coming and we have fresh bones and hide and are going to see if we can get the same results as some of us have seen in the field.it will be a couple of weeks and we will try and get a new thread started over are results. rick

Cool!! I have a little test I am going to do as well. That is as soon as I can figure out how to protect myself. This will be interesting.

Probably the easiest way is to do a youtube and then link it. But I am no expert, I get my son to do that stuff..
