Bench vise

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a bench vise available that is reversed from normal vise configuration. Essentially what I'm thinking is having the clamping jaws over the table and not out beyond the edge of table and the handle in normal position past the edge of table to allow full revolutions. I see HF has a reversible bench vice which is almost what I want but the handle is over the tabletop, which means you can only do half turns.

To avoid clamping stuff off the edge of table or bench. Or having to rotate vise to support one end of object on surface but other end is hanging out in air. Maybe a drill press vice would work for what I'm thinking.

The linked vice might work if it can rotate 180° or I would just mount it that way, then that would make the normal orientation a bit useless. Just need to be able to move the handle to other end of jack screw.

edit: I should have read the description, it swivels 360° horizontally. Might be able to use that after all.

On the Harbor Freight vice;

Cut off one end of the handle and remove it. Weld a nut to the end of the worm screw where the handle was.

Then, use an impact wrench with a socket to match the nut welded to the worm screw. Tighten it up. If it needs to be tighter, use the handle that was removed from the worm screw.

I would not use a break over bar, since that would add a lot more stress to the welded nut and it could break off.

Normally I want to clamp something long off the edge of the table. My current vise doesn't allow this, the fixed jaw is slightly inboard of the bench edge - and that was with mounting it such that the bolt holes are as close to the edge as I dared.

The only vise that I know of that does what you want is a double-acting Kurt mill vise, if they even still make those. Those are not a vise that one would normally mount to a work bench, and being double-acting you'd still have a "normal" vise hanging off the bench edge. I've only seen them in pictures, it may well be that you need to clamp something the same size in the near set of jaws at the same time that you clamp your work in the far set of jaws.

Well, after going to HF and checking out this vice I decided it was too large and heavy for what I want, so I went a different way. I got a smaller suction base vice that I can put anywhere on the table top, and a drill press vice that can be bolted down. I can put a couple sets of threaded inserts into the table and bolt it down when needed and remove when not needed. I was considering one of those cross slide drill press vice but changed my mind.
