Obstruction sounds plausible. Much more so than the probability that the 4140 had that big a flaw.
Wonder how well it'll unscrew from the actionThis is (was) a barrel at the National F Open Championship in Phoenix.
Shooter is OK. Wind coach got hit in the finger by flying stock debris.
Barrel was shooting flawlessly until this. No one is sure what happened and barrel is being sent to barrel maker for analysis.
This is a 1.25 inch straight profile barrel.
Always be safe when reloading and while shooting.
You made the right choice Bill. And people wonder why I am cautious with an after it leaves the factory "fluting job"....
It's a compensation barrel.Agreed about Very lucky the shooter didn't get hurt, but personally the swearing printed is way over the top ,it's every where and it's not cool or trendy ,we all know better!!!.
Would anyone want to use that Action again?Wonder how well it'll unscrew from the action
Good point! I'm sure it's stressed.Would anyone want to use that Action again?
I would be very concerned about the stress put on the Action since the barrel split inside.
I would trash the whole rifle. From the inscription on the barrel, he should probably think about picking a new sport while he is ahead. Looks like he has issues.
Be on the lookout for an Action in the classifieds.Good point! I'm sure it's stressed.
Boy you said it. Pathetic!Interesting, guys are concerned about some words engraved on the barrel more than why the barrel blew up.
No wonder this Country is weak and pathetic lately... when hunters/shooters are butthurt about "bad" words on a rifle barrel.
