I have been shooting the Barnes 120gr TSX/TTSX for years successfully on elk. Just to see what difference there was also have tried the 120gr TAC-TX. Can't see any difference in velocity , accuracy or effectiveness on elk. Does any one know exactly what the difference may be?

Not sure but I shoot the Barnes 300gr TAC-TX in my SOCOM. It is the identical bullet as their 300TTSX. The only difference is the box and the marketing. Barnes would confirm this, if asked.

The same "may" be true with the bullets that you are questioning.

My thoughts exactly. If you can't find TSX bullets in stock you seem to be able to find TAC-TX. Same price.
