BAR Safari II 270 win bolt sticking when magazine in place

I have disassembled my Browning BAR in 270 win Safari II for part replacement. The inertia was cracked. Installed a new one. After thoroughly cleaning and removing the bolt, reassembly has left me with the gun dry firing w/o the magazine in place. When I install the magazine, the bolt stops half way over the top of the magazine and not fully closing. I have my buddies almost exact same gun to compare to. The only thing I see different is there is a part sticking out of the back of the bolt, where his does not.
Bolt operates fine w/o mag and fires. Suggestions? thanks.

Timing latch fell forward during bolt installation. Problem solved.
