The barrel on my 300 PRC is broken in a little better, re-worked my load for the 195 bd2 and got the speed up a little bit. Grouping good at 300, will take it out to 600 soon.
Little update. Kilo 2000 was taking a crap on me. Upgraded to the 5kToday I went out to verify dope on my 205gr load. From my results today it looks like I'm actually getting .412 g7 over advertised .402 g7
Was only able to take it to 1005 yards today. Next outing I'll be taking them to 1960 yards
I have some, just no load development on them.Has anyone loaded the 125 bd2 in a 6.5 prc? What velocity to expect?
I'm doing it. I'm getting 3125 with h4350. Very accurate and basically no recoil. I was sick and tired of the bolt click issues with the prc so I tried this. I went from 2-3 firings on brass to 7. And no ejection issues. Yeah I could get more speed but this is plenty for deerHas anyone loaded the 125 bd2 in a 6.5 prc? What velocity to expect?
I wouldn't mind trying H4831sc with the BB2'sI'm doing it. I'm getting 3125 with h4350. Very accurate and basically no recoil. Not a PRC but my 260AI shoots them at 3150 with a 24" barrel.Has anyone loaded the 125 bd2 in a 6.5 prc? What velocity to expect?
That is a screenshot from the Barnes load data found here: https://www.barnesbullets.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/300-Win-Mag.pdfI have emailed Badlands and asked for load data and they responded pretty quickly. The attached is for 175 grain BD2 for 300 Win MagView attachment 362710
The BD's pressure up a little faster per weight than the cup & cores...more engraving pressure.I was hoping to be able to crest that 3400 fps sense I am getting 3000 fps with a 153 a tip
That's not been my experience. I have to lowery start pressures in Quickload to ge the velocities to align I have no signs of pressure.Ed in The BD's pressure up a little faster per weight than the cup & cores...more engraving pressure.
This has been my experience as well. But the bc's make up for it.The BD's pressure up a little faster per weight than the cup & cores...more engraving pressure.
Loaded the 30 cal 195 BD2 in my 300 PRC today. Started out with them loaded to a coal of 3.632 which puts me 0.020 off the lands.
I've got a 24" proof barrel with a 9.0 twist. Using N570, ran in 0.5 grain increments from 77.5 grains up to 81 grains without any real pressure signs. 79.0 and 79.5 both recorded 2949 fps.
Loaded some up at 79.3 grains to test seating depths in 3 round groups and found what I was looking for with a coal of 3.612 (0.040 off the lands)View attachment 368954
