Availability of H1000 and Retumbo

I did try a pound of 8133 hoping it would be a great powder with temp stability, but I found it to be the same as Retumbo but a whole lot dirtier. To me it was as bad as RL33, but did not have the accuracy. I scrubbed my barrel after 33 rounds of 8133 and could not believe the build up carbon it had created.

I've noticed very recently (now that I need more) that H1000 and Retumbo are very hard to find. I live in Missouri within 1 hour of both Midway and Grafs. Called grafs today, Retumbo must not be being made any more, and H1000 out of stock.

I have a 338 Lapua and a 6.5 SAUM in which I was using these powders. Anyone else have any suggestions on equal powders and their availability?

Thanks!
I have heard that Retumbo will be one available again next year, if you find some buy it.

Where do you live in Missouri? I am from St Peters. I go to Graf and sons in St Charles but they must be connected to Grafs in Mexico Mo.

I'm in Jefferson City. So I'm 1 hour from Mexico (the Graf's HQ and main warehouse) and 30 minutes from MidwayUSA :D

I'm new to the forum so here goes. I have been loading H-1000 ever since I got my Savage 110BA Stealth. It really likes the 225gr Hornady Interlock SP-RP with 91.25gr H-1000 and .005" off the lands. I also tried 88.75grs H-4831sc with a 250gr Berger VLD Seated .005" off the lands. Both gave me pretty fair groups, .42" for 5 shots with H-1000 and .365" for H-4831. Chrono for H-1000 was 2810fps and 2879 for H-4831. Don,t know if your still looking but thought I'd pass it on your way. Good shooting.

I will be considering 4831sc. I need some of that anyway to try on a few other rifles. Thanks for the response!

Election year coming up. You guys should buy up the high demand stuff and some spare AR lowers for Oct 2020 when people start getting nervous....

On another note. Given the state of things as a whole I recommend building a store of supplies. I have standardized components and maintain a supply of powders for what I reload. Agreed that Retumbo is hard to find, but you have to know where to look too.

I have a couple of buddies that are shooters too and collectively we go through enough powder to make the hazmat fee on a powder valley order worth it. The max on one order is 48 lbs & on my big rifles it doesn't take that long to go through an 8 lb can of H1000. Combine that with a lot of AR-comp burned in 22-250's on prairie dogs plus primers & ordering from them makes a lot of sense. Better to have too much powder than not enough.

If any of guys are in western Montana and wanting some H1000, I have a couple 8 pounders and about 1/2 dozen 1 pounders I could sell. When it finally became available several years ago....I bought a BUNCH.
I would sell or would love to trade for N570
PM me
