SOLD/EXPIRED Arizona. Found! Long range rifle in case

Their must be some way to get the owners info from the serialized action. Someone had to do a background check for it.
I didn't get the s/n from the finder. My last questions to him are going unanswered. He supposedly passed off the firearm to AZGFD. I notified the local sheriff in Yavapai county and gave the finders info to them.
Dead silent so far. Put 4 social media posts out there, but silent as well.
I'm thinking I can't do much more. Wait and see now. May be never....

Yep, you're done! I'd say you gave the scenario the diligence it deserves. "IF" everything is "On The Level" here it sounds like the owner of the rifle needs to give it the same attention. I know I would. It's been what….roughly 5 days now and nary a word? Hmmmmmm 🤔

Probably in a pawn shop, lol.

d to give my contact info as I would like the gun if the owner wasn't found. They just laughed. Always wondered if it was lost, stolen or found it's way to to someone's vault later.

When I was living Texas a friend of mine found a pistol. Called the PD and gave them the model and serial number. PD checked to make sure it wasn't listed as stolen (it wasn't) and said if someone called looking for it they'd pass along his contact info. If not, it was his. I don't remember if he ever found the owner.

I think it was 1 year here, but I don't know if that's changed. I just think this one may never be returned to owner.

I used to walk the 3 miles from my house to the farm I used to hunt growing up. One morning I find a nickel plated 25 auto laying on the wood and iron bridge. I had gloves on because it was cold. Picked it up and put it in my backpack after making sure it was clear. This was pre-cell phone days, so when I got home I called the Sheriff's office, deputy came and picked it up, we went to where it was found, and they called in a dive team. The team found a rusty shotgun and 2 more pistols of about the same quality as the 25 auto. Deputy dropped by a few weeks later and said that all 3 pistols were connected to murders and all 4 were stolen. Fast forward to late 90s the aunt was out for her evening walk and spotted what looked like a hand, called Sheriff's office and sure enough it was a body in the river. Dive team came out searched and found a pistol but nothing else. 2 days later car driving over the bridge spotted second body floating. Dive team came out and searched 100yds either side of the bridge and the area on either side of the little slough bridge and found nothing. I find something like a gun along a roadway, I pretty much don't care, it's going to someone in law enforcement, someone I know I can trust usually. Living in a small community has its advantages and disadvantages.

Me personally I would like to see some pictures of this suppose to be found rifle that no one seems to want to claim I'm starting to feel like someone just wanting a pat on the back for rifle that don't exist by the way I thought this website was for selling and trading guns reloading and rifle scope not discussing lost guns

Not really trying to step on your toes here but if you think that this forum is just for selling equipment I think you may be on the wrong forum.

I was on my way back to Nevada after visiting Mom...stopped to take a leak on a wide spot before turnoff to Susanville....found a derringer..22mag..loaded...checked it out..looked sturdy as a derringer gets....fired off a round...sweet....
Turned it in to carson sheriff department...guy asked if I wanted it if it was clear.....'nah..dont need another gun'.......he laughed as he walked away.......
