Thank you. Bullet performance as per the manufacturer's velocity data is more important than energy at impact. I learned that a few years and a day ago.I like that, You used 2,000 FPS as, Your,.. "Limit" on Velocity, vs LETHAL,.. Range !
WELL,.. DONE, deputy ! Very Nice, Bull,.. Congrats !
I have been using the axil in ear with sound amplification so I can hear and still have some protection.
Define long range, what's the ethical limits? This individual is out at 1200 yards supposedly 'hunting' nah I don't think so. It's absurd to even suggest shooting at that distance your shot placement is good enough or the projectile residual energy is adequate? The variables here are myriad and the chances of wounding an animal you won't recover are far too high, speaking as an experienced hunter. But who am I to commentYou do realize this is a long range hunting forum don't you?
Everyone has to determine their own ethical range limits, which include ballistics, the conditions, one's ability and especially one's failures.Define long range, what's the ethical limits? I have to admit, that's impressive performance - both the ELD-X and you!View attachment 513754
Same combo a couple of years later, 425 yards if memory serves. Notice the entrance wound. She dropped and I mean right now.

Destroyed the leg bone just below the shoulder knuckle. Blew threw both lungs and lodged under the hide. Fantastic performance.

Axis meat is top notch! They work fine for me. Not an Elk but not small game either. 180 yard shot, 143 ELD-x. No tracking required.

Exactly, with lots of practice from field positions. Except I have a Savage UL / Proof Research with the bolt is on the wrong side. LOL!.
That's a fine bull sir!175 ELDX @ 2885 from 7 PRC. 319 yards. High shoulder. Barely see entrance and no exit. Trotted 10 yards and down he went. No fuss. Upon inspection bullet fragmented into lungs. First and only experience.
