I think this might be just about perfect for Elk here in our Oregon high desert where packing and long range are the norm. And it is getting harder and taking longer to get in shape for the hunt. Am I missing something besides a long wait and and some coin?

This design is a bit of overkill for a 300WSM but thats certainly not a bad thing!!!
