Anyone using Leukotape for blisters?

Sounds to me like your forefoot is sliding around in your boot. Treatment of blisters is one matter ... preventing them from forming is another. I'm talking about prevention. In your case I'd probably take the boots you have and add a piece of felt under the tongue and laces so when you tighten things down they create a buttress on top of your forefoot so it can't slide forward and backward in the boot every time you heel strike and push off. The location of these blisters is also very common for those having a cavus foot type or (high arches). High arched feet tend to be very rigid and inflexible creating pressure points on the contact surfaces ... i.e. the metatarsal heads and your great toe.
Treatment of these afterwards I'd try a layer of 2nd skin gel (made by Spenko) covered up and held in place by a waterproof bandaid. Good luck!!!
 
Yep ... those ought to help out for sure. You just need to take up as much "space" in your boot as you can so your foot doesn't slide around on the insole. Some all they need is a thicker sock but it's not always that simple. Getting a snug fit on one's foot can be a challenge. The width of the footwear makes quite a difference. It's about taking up enough room in the forefoot and toebox of the footwear to create a tight fit without impairing the local circulation. Can be a challenge. Then there is the boot material that can stretch over time and end up allowing your foot to move too much?
 
For those having the cavus feet you need to seek out boot manufacturers that incorporate a rocker into the sole of the boot. This essentially creates a bit of a radius on the sole and instead of the sole bending with every step you roll along the contour of the boot which eliminates much of the stress on the foot as well as the need for any slippin' and slidin' in the boot. I haven't looked lately on who's making good boots like this but I have a pair of Scarpa's that are great. Getting a bit old after 5 seasons and I have to constantly re-tighten them so probably need to get a new stiffer pair.
 
As someone else said "liner socks", I can't over recommend them. They are thin, so they don't bother your fit hardly any. They wick away moisture. But most importantly they are a buffer for your skin, any "sliding",heat, and friction is done between the liner and your normal sock and NOT your SKIN and your sock.

If I forget them or if I get blisters from other activities I like to use mole skin. I use one piece and cut a hole in it slightly bigger than the blister area, so one (maybe two) piece of MS goes around the outside of said blister. Then another piece to cover it. This way the piece(s) with hole in it kind of build a elevated wall around the blister to relief pressure from the offend material.

I use Leukotape straight on my blisters. I've had no issues with it. Hurts a bit taking it off but the tape stays on, including hiking and out of the water.
 
I always carry moleskin and leukotape. With certain boots I have trouble with either heel or big toe blisters. On the heal I use two pieces and make a large cover over my heal and then one strand around the ankle. Keeps anything from moving. On the big toe I use a moleskin on the hotspot and then a piece of Leuko around the toe. This is mandatory for me if there will be a lot of descending.
 
Can't recommend liner socks enough, especially when you start cranking out high mileage with a heavy pack. Second to that is adding some foot powder to cut down on moisture, and third is to have back up moleskin. Once I started using liner socks and powder, I only needed the moleskin twice, and that was after multiple days and 40 miles.
