Anyone still using a 700 action?

I have one custom .308, and two custom built 30-06's, all three with 26 inch heavy barrels. I have one of the new Rem 700 rifles in .223, that is waiting on a heavy Krieger to come in, will also be chambered in .223.

Guess my small arms locker is pretty Old. I've consolidated my Rem 700's to just 4 .308 Win and 1 .223 Rem. Three of my .308 Win Rem 700's have 24 inch Match Crowned barrels. One for Fort Stewart, One for F-Class, and one in the shop for barrel change etc to swap out with the other two. That leaves a 22 inch barreled AAC Breakout version for general field use, and a .24 inch barreled .223 for P-Dogs in AZ. All of them carry 5R barrels. Anyone else still using the 700?
338 Win Mag. Shoots .5 or less.

Only those without trigger fingers don't own a Rem 700 something or one of the latest "700 footprint" clonesā€¦.yeah if it fits in a 700 stock, takes 700 triggers and bottom metal it's a 700ā€¦.they're cult actions like 10/22s, 1911sā€¦

Once plentiful pawnshop bargains, 700s have become "collector items"ā€¦." No longer made and rare"ā€¦..riiiiight.

I even have one in 243 with the factory barrel still on it.

While I do use custom actions, I have to say that my Remington 700 actions(trued/faced) over the years have had no problem standing with the best in terms of resultsā€¦ā€¦I put more attention(and $$$) into the barrel, load, and beddingā€¦ā€¦

I still have several in 222, 223, 243, and a 308. That said, with what you get in a basic custom action, it doesn't make a lot of sense to spend money having them blueprinted these days.

The other nice part about a custom is they are typically stronger and the tolerances are tighter, which allows for warmer loads with good brass life.

No custom builds - but these were mixed in with the other rifles on my rack.....
700 VLS .223 - half minute
700 Classic .300 Wby. - 3/4 minute
700 Classic .338 Win. Mag. - 1 1/2 minute (iron sights)
700 Ultimate .50 cal. muzzle loader - half minute
Now I'm going to guess that y'all ain't using your push feed 700's for Dangerous Game Afield?
I don't think a 700 action would stop me from hunting anything.
My .300 Wby. has been in Alaska grizzly territory a couple of times. We were drop hunting caribou but had bear within a quarter mile of camp. Found a bear's cache a half mile out.

I felt pretty good about my chances.

I only have one left, it's my custom 27" Rem 700 .223 Rem LR 1-8 twist that I built for 1k LR matches for fun, it'll "hold" its own on a calm or not too windy day. I use 80gr Sierra's MK and Berger's VLD match bullets in it, I love this rifle. My other two Rem 700s I gave to my son last year, my M24 and Rem 700 AI both .308 Win using Sierra 175gr Mk with my M118LR load.
Cheers
