I have a 300 blackout setup for subsonic. I was leaning more towards the 450 bushmaster because the foot pounds of energy at 100yds is almost double the 300 blackout.
We don't shoot subsonic BUT the shooters we know shoot the 300 Black Out for hogs!I have been contemplating setting something up but most subsonic ammo does not seem like a very good option unless hunting under 50 yds. Seems like the best choice is either 450 bushmaster or 45/70 but still limited to 100yds or less which is the majority of my shots anyway. Looks like 45/70- gets a slight nod but there is a much larger list of options for 450 bushmaster and ammo is slightly cheaper. I already have a 45/70 but would need to be threaded which I won't do. Its a ruger #3.
Is that subsonic? If so, what distance was the hog killed? That maker Rex bullet is magic in the 300 bo.
Sounds about right...you can never tell how big, game can get! j/kSooooo, if I get the gist of some of the responses……my wife and I should do fine on hogs with our hunting rifles using cast bullets @ 1500 to 1800 mv.

You probably get to use a suppressor in TN also, out in CA we can't have any NFA items. I'm really looking forward to hunting with a suppressor, it seems like CA is one of the last states that would ever allow it.I have a 300 blackout setup for subsonic. I was leaning more towards the 450 bushmaster because the foot pounds of energy at 100yds is almost double the 300 blackout.
You could have almost used a pig sticker on it!That pig was 15 yards
That's pretty amazing that it will open to 700 fps. I would trust the 300 blackout in supersonic to 200, as I said, but I want more gun if it's further.I've never shot this bullet past 50 yards. I would have to see how its shoots at longer distances to answer that question. That bullet will open up down to 700fps.
