Anyone here work for Sitka?

Not sure about your post and your point. If the web site has the item listed as available, and the OP was able to complete an order, then it's on the company if they didn't have the inventory to fulfill the order, regardless of how close to the hunt it was.
This is especially true if the company failed to reach out and explain why the order was cancelled: bad customer service in my opinion.

Sometimes things happen. At my store inventory is never 100%. Our website might show something in stock and we can not find it for the customer. I try my hardest to find an item if it shows in stock, I will try to order from another store, or I will try to find a suitable alternative.

Sometimes items have been checked in at freight and are not on the floor yet and could be in the middle of a pile of boxes and crates on pallets, items might have been returned but are defective and have not been taken out of inventory, an item might be in inventory because customers have the last ones in their carts and have not checked out yet, or I have seen similar items checked in under one SKU when someone in freight did not notice a difference. Then it shows inventory in one item and not the other.

I have seen turkey decoys come in damaged. They are placed in inventory and it takes a minute to remove them. Customers can place orders or travel to the store with us showing inventory. I have seen carbon fiber climbing sticks recalled. We show inventory for a day. Customers come in and we can's sell them.

To be upset enough to turn to the internet for a cancelled order is a bit much. We will probably not get a follow up from OP if he does contact Sitka. We will not hear from the company as to why the order was cancelled. We just get one side.

OP said he ordered intime for it to get to him. If you are leaving just enough time for it to ship to you that is last minute. They might have had 50 customers order the same item last minute. Might have been a timing issue.

It seemed like the first thing done by OP was to turn to the internet to complain. No mention of contacting the company to see what was up or how the situation could be rectified. Just mentioning that his hunt was ruined for want of one garment. We do not know what the communication was between OP and the customer. OP does not say if there was any email of if he reached out to them.

I doubt his week was ruined because he had to go shopping. He said he bought the bibs last year. I wonder what he wore last year and why that is no longer an option.
 
I'll take a wool shirt and a pair of old blue jeans any day of the week over a pair of $200 pants that just make you look a human silhouette.
A pair of waterproof gators and some carpenter pants goes along way.

Not in the back country for more than a day or two. Sure you could get by but the tech. Side of the new stuff is worth it to me

The DWR finish on most new gear is worth it.

Goretex or other waterproof/breathable membranes are worth it.

I was cleaning up leaves on Sunday with my blower/vac. I had on Lee jeans. It was a light rain but I needed to get it done. Took me a few hours. I had on a liner from a waterfowl parka and water proof boots. I had a merino base layer under the jeans. I was warm but in the end the jeans were wet and filthy. I know if I had had on my Sitka Territory or Equinox pants I would not have been near as wet and I could have had them dry and ready to go in no time. Those jeans would have taken all day to dry out.

Two main things to keep you comfortable in the field. Block the wind and defeat the moisture.

Well We didn't have gortex or hunting company's selling high tech clothing growing up and as kid we would hike and camp for weeks with nothing other than wool and jeans.
And Pancho's sometimes that poncho was a garbage bag.
We didn't even have a tent until I was 14.
I've been to almost every single national park and state park in ut and a lot of others in the surrounding states as well.
My mother was an avid hiker she had us hiking by the time I remember walking.
You can do a lot more with a lot less then most people think.

I also remember hunting in an old pair of wool pants that were not merino. They were thick and heavy especially when wet and an old red wool jacket that iched like crazy around the neck!
All you have to do is watch or remember the old Eastmans Outdoor films and take a look at what they wore in the extended back country hunts. Those were real men! :)
I guess all I am saying is apparently I am a bit of a wuss and like to be a bit more comfortable especially more so as I age and the lighter wait more technically advanced gear helps me stay in the woods longer and hunt more efficiently.
It may seem strange to some to see me out there clad in KUIU gear while packing a primitive weapon IE longbow or traditional muzzle loader most of the time but hay it helps keep me out there with my Son's doing what we do!

Probably not. Times change as does everything with it. Nobody is wuss for updating hunting gear or clothing. I am just a tightwad and still wear Carhart's most of the time because of where I hunt. Private ranch where I brand, fix fence and equipment. Deer are used to seeing in that so they don't spook easily at a distance.
 
I've never once been so upset that something or someone didn't live up to my expectations that I had to blame it on someone. Sometimes $h!t happens. It's literally a fact of life. I'm wondering if some of you have sone of the best luck in the world that something as minimal as a electronic order getting fouled up ruins your entire season. I guess there's 2 types a people, the type that blames everyone for their bad luck or the type that doesn't let it change the course of their day. My advice would be to chalk it up to a loss and try again. Sitka makes fantastic clothing. Allowing this to ruin your view of sitka is like claiming you never want to participate in the world series again because you lost the first time. Their customer service has been absolutely wonderful for me. But I don't expect them to bend over backwards and top my sundae with a cherry every time I need them.

I have only needed their customer service once. We were told that the Obsidian color was black and would be acceptable as a uniform pant. I ordered two pair of one of the Sitka pants in Obsidian. They arrived and turned out to be more of a charcoal. Initiated a return, they emailed me a label, I dropped the package off at a Fedex store. No problem.
 
Over 15 years I've only had two issues with Sitka gear. Both times they sent something out new. Excellent customer service.
