I like it , to me it looks a lot better than just a plain stainless finish , l have several I would do in a heartbeat ,if I knew where to have it done.

Looks to be done by turning against a wire wheel on a bench grinder. Most likely to break up the glare from the polished stainless steel.

I bought this from a Tulia TX pawn shop in 96. I believe a Brad Bowers? No one up north here has ever seen a finish like it.

Dan Dowling had a finish like that he called a swizzle finish.

That sure looks like Dan's work. I have 3 of his barrels with that swizzle finish.

You are correct on Dowling doing that. I think it is a cool look. I've been trying to replicate it with 40 grit paper on an orbital sander. I'm close to getting it

The late Butch Hongisto used to do a similar finish on stainless barrels, he used Scotch Brite pads in various grades.

Heavy duty 8" industrial grinder with course WIRE WHEEL to remove rusted bluing!!! Just my guess!

Just ran across this and I have never seen a finish on a barrel like this. Just wondering if someone could fill me in on what it is.

Looks a lot like it was dipped in the galvanize tank.
