I enjoy it as a hobby, and of course the fresh food. I got back into it as my life style seems to have slowed down enough to have time. Its been a tough year with the month drought and the heat wave we experienced in July. I have a small plot and this years planting was:

Tomatoes:
Jet Star
Brandywine
Cherokee Purple
Red Duce
Roma (Unknown)
Cherry (unknown)

Cucumbers:
Dasher II
Bush Hybrid

Peppers:
Green Bell
Jalapenos
Cherry Bomb

Egg Plant:
Black Beauty

Squash:
Summer (Zucchini).

I had early success with the tomatoes, squash and cucumbers, but the heat took it's toll. It's gone into a stall but now that things cooled off a little and we got some rain I'm hoping to get things turned around. Pulled another whopper last night, a 31.8 oz Brandywine it was split and a little ugly, but that's ok with me. It's on the menu for lunch today, grilled venison steak sandwich with smoked gouda, tomato and lettuce. Come on 12 o'clock!

Corn came up very uneven so we are eating it as each batch ripens.
Zucchini produced very little and most died.
Red beets, cutting lettuce, Green beans, did well, should have planted more beans.
Pickles did well till they seasoned out/died.
Sugar peas were abundant.
Patty squash are producing well.
If late crop of corn does not do well we will be buying some to can, local produce action $7.00/dz.
Cabbage green gave a decent head, red heads were small.
Few tomato plants we have are doing well. We buy in for canning.
Onions did surprisingly well this year.
Peppers always iffy. We had few so far.
We have been blessed again.
