There should be a small dovetail piece that goes with the mount as well and replaces the striper clip guide. If it looks like it has been mounted, purists will not want it, as according to what I was told when I was into the M1A's, "once it is mounted it is only to be used with that rifle as it will not fit another action properly". Can be removed and reinstalled and holds zero on original action.
Interesting....I received it with a parts lot of other stuff given to me from a friends estate. It appears unused. I'll dig further to see if the dovetail piece is there. Thanks.
