Any Interest in a 330gr-350gr .338?

Doing load development now for my 338 Edge barrel. Initially I had some weird pressure and accuracy issues that turned out to be due to the ADG brass I was using. I switched to Norma and so far I think that has solved the problem. I think I might start another thread to review the rifle and the 285gr Badlands, since that's not what this thread was about. That said, so far it's looking promising. Long story short, during the course of figuring what my issue was I shot some 230gr ELDXs through it to make sure it wasn't the barrel…Definitely wasn't the barrel. I've shot groups like this with every K&P barrel I have had.

I shoot a Lapua improved and I think the the heavier. 330 to 350 range would be killer. I have been considering a 378 weatherby just to run. 350 class bullet. I think it would be a hammer

You might try the 145 Lehigh bullets. I shoot them in my 338 Excalibur at 3450 out to 3000 yards. They are the most accurate bullet l have shot and I have tried them all. You should get 3250 fps out of a 338 lapua ackley with a 30 inch barrel.

I figured I'd start a thread here since this type of bullet would be used from 1000 and out, and wanted to gauge some interest…since it's not a thing…yet!

I was talking with @RockyMtnMT yesterday about the possibility of making a .338 Hammer Hunter that weighs 330gr-350gr to stabilize in a 1:7 twist…since I happen to have a 338 Edge with a 32" K&P with that twist rate. I think the Edge is on the "edge" of benefiting from something like that but you guys with more case capacity shooting single shot 338 Lapua Improved and 33XC I think could make excellent use out of it. Probably shoot at a little slower then a 300gr Berger, but would be better in the wind with bigger impacts.

I asked him to send me a minimum order and estimate. I'm willing to throw a couple hundred bucks at it to try something like that. If it's a real possibility, maybe a few of us could join together and could make it happen at a relatively reasonable rate for us all.

I'd be interested for sure. Not for 1000 or probably even 2000 but beyond 2K for the .338, I'd sure like to try something around 330-350 for sure.

I would like to see a 330 gr Berger style Hybrid OTM in .338. I think that putting it in a 338LMAI 30"-32" barrel 1:8.5 to1:9 gain twist with 100+grs of Retumbo or H1000 would maybe give you close to 2,850+fps.

I think you'd see 2900+ with the 330 in a 32" barrel. I'm getting 3000 with mine using 300s and a 29" barrel.

I might suspect your issue with ADG brass was the chamber length being to short. Most 338 Edge reamers are based off the 300 RUM being necked up and the brass overall length being shorter. I bet if you trimmed the ADG to the same length as your Norma, things would come back together.
