Any 35 Cal fans out there?

There was a guy on another forum I used to spend time on that lived and hunted Alaska with a 350Rem Mag. I don't remember the rifle used but he had posted many pictures of Moose, Black, Brown, and Grizzly bears, Musk Ox, Caribou, and others. He would always say it would put them down as quick as the 338 Win Mag.
I have been looking for an older left handed 30-06 for several years that I can send off to JES and have it rebored to 35 Whelen or Brown Whelen.
The Remington 600 was mostly a marketing failure and never caught on. However the 350 version was very popular in Alaska. It was a light handy rifle that packed a big punch and could handle the bears.

Remington has a long track record of failure when it comes to marketing and design.
The 350 and the 6.5 both were ahead of their time there is no doubt about that.
mid they would've put the 6.5 in a longer barreled action it would've done better. Same goes for the 350. It's light weight and stout recoil was its demise.

Found one at my local gun shop. FSGuns. Always like the look of it, just struggling with my self on buying another rifle and caliber to reload.

358 win in a Howa. Rebore done by JES. Sitting in a Bansner High Tech stock. Bolt fluted by Kampfeld. Timney trigger. Kahles 1.5-6x42. My buddy named it "Thumper"

I've got the Whelen also and my sons favorite black bear rifle is his 35 rem. We bought it for his bday this past year . Wish to god we'd bought it a year or so ago . Can't find dies nowhere. So stuck shooting factories in it for now . But that's not horrible just stock piling the brass for later .
He killed a 250 lb one with it the 3 rd day of our early season . It dropped like a ton of bricks . I've not shot nothing other than paper with the Whelen thus far, but it looks to shoot very well
I might just have 35 rem dies at my house... I'll get back to you tomorrow eve. if I do...p.m. me if interested...

WOW RL12, you must have a stash of it because I have not seen any on the shelfs for years. that and H4895 are like they adjustable wrenches of powder.

I was just given 4 boxes of 350 remington, only 1.5 boxes are loaded rest are empties. This thread has me wanting to pick up the gun to fire em. Problem is they are few and far between...
