Any 2025 SHOT hopes, dreams, rumors?

I know it's a pipe dream but I would love to see ruger give some love to the number 1 again and on the same note Winchester the 1885.
I'd also like to see some legit varmint rifles on the scene. Laminate, Kevlar and wood stocks 9-11 pounds, 24"-26" barrels, updated twists on all cartridges, I know again a pipe dream but hey why not dream.
I would enjoy seeing the Remington 760/7600 breathe new life again and if your reading this Remington a stainless option would be sweet.

You're right, it's always a mix of "meh" and "wow" at SHOT, but the occasional gem keeps things exciting. Here are a few things floating around that could make the 2025 SHOT Show interesting:

  1. Hot 6mm Factory Option:
You're not alone in hoping for a high-performance 6mm in factory-loaded options. Some rumors have been swirling about Hornady or Nosler potentially rolling out a hotter 6mm—like a 6mm GT or 6mm ARC factory ammo with a little more punch for long-range hunters and competition shooters. I agree it would be nice to avoid reloading and still get factory-loaded rounds that push the limits.
  2. Ruger 39A:
The Ruger 39A would definitely be a cool throwback, especially if they do it in stainless with a saltwater-friendly coating. Ruger's hinted at a few "classic" rifle projects in past interviews, and the lever-action market is always primed for something fresh. A modern, durable version of the 39A with Ruger's reliability could attract some interest—though, like you said, probably a long shot.
  3. Optics Gap (LPVO vs. PRS):
That sweet spot between LPVOs and high-end PRS optics is a tough nut to crack. One possibility is seeing high-magnification LPVOs that maintain clarity and precision up to 6x or 8x, with better low-light performance. Companies like Vortex or Nightforce might look at bridging the gap with an optic that offers both versatility and precision, possibly with advanced reticles or better weight/ergonomics.
  4. Cartridge Announcements:
As much as we're all hoping for something new, another 6.5mm is probably on the horizon. With the success of the Creedmoor and PRC, we're likely to see a "Goldilocks" version that fits somewhere between the two—think 6.5mm Super Short Magnum or something similarly underwhelming. However, the 30 Super Cary trend could indeed lead to a push for "shorter" magnum-style 30 cal cartridges.
Also, a straight-wall cartridge to bridge the gap between the Legends and Bushmaster is a possibility. With the rise in popularity of straight-wall hunting

I wish Leupold would announce: We have fixed the erector system in all of our scopes. No tracking issues as of 2/1/2025. Send in your older scopes and we will update your erector system, at no cost. 😁
