Riley, what unit were you in? I thought that the gnf wasn't allowing any muley does to be harvested. Was it a youth tag?

3D1 it was a resident adult, any antlerless deer tag. They prohibited shooting mule deer does in units 3B1, 3B2, 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D, 4E and 4F. Deer | North Dakota Game and Fish

Why would i have issues?

Your issue is, will the bullet clear the tube with Varget? It's awfully slow burning for that case.

Squibs can be a ****er.

its not much slower than 335, i use it with 40 grain bullets and dont have a problem. heres a burn chart from hodgdon. Burn Rate

Riley , great shooting and also you can use what ever powder is close on the burn rate chart but not too far off , and as far as turning the bullet around I've tried it and It doesnt make much differnce at short range say 100 yds. No problem with the 308 or 223 . Trailboss makes great subsonic loads for short range shooting .. Remember the manual is just a guide but not an absolute solution . Sometimes you have to think outside the box to acheive your own results.
