When fire forming new brass do you use a light load and fire twice or a standard load and really stretch it? Rod
What I do now as well, but I done it both ways.I anneal before fireforming seems to help get the cases formed.
DoI've fireformed hundreds of AI rounds and only ever lost 1 case to a split. The body shoulder stretch is a one time thing and it can wait to be annealed until the neck requires it. Did it this way on 20VT, 243AI, 250AI, 257AI, 7x57AI, and 280AI. Yeah, I know, I got an AI thing going on and cant stop. I dont like to anneal too far down the case. Softens the brass and invites too much stretching. Just my opinion.

I came across 73 good .220 Swift used brass needs fire formed for the AI that can be used and have no idea on its history. Would it be to my advantage to anneal or just shoot until they are trash and get new? PS They didn't cost me anything. On new brass I would anneal after and with used brass I anneal before. Getting ready to form some 250AI from 25 Creedmoor soon and I wont anneal at all since the change is so minor. Waiting on the brass to arrive
