I would be interested in what AMT rifle you have, details and pics would be appreciated. Any history or stories about them would be a plus. Can pm/dm me here.
Thanks
I can't PM yet as this profile is less than 30 days old. My original profile from 2012 ish, maybe older was hacked.
It will be a little bit of a slow process for pictures. 1) I'm not good at it. 2) barrels are at the shop, rifles are at home. It's freezing cold here with the weather we are having.
I got the rifles from a friend at my old "club" in California. He was 75 and time to hang it up. He and a friend had 2 switch barrel benchrest rifles made in the early 2000s with 2 barrels each. He wound up with both setups when his benchrest buddy passed.
Right bolt, left eject.
#368 has a 6br 14 twist barrel and bolt plus a 17 Remington barrel and bolt.
#270 has a 6br 8 twist (I think) and bolt plus a 22-250 barrel, same bolt.
The stocks are "name brand" but can't remember at the moment. If you do BR, you will recognize them. With the family forwarding the buddy's rifle, they missed the adjustable but plate so there was only one and that one is in a box somewhere. Oh the wonders of a 2,000 mile relocation.
The smith that built them I think was in Ventura area or somewhere between San Louis Obisbo and Ventura. Now I'm the one getting old.
The smith chose to use a unique form of threading, looks a bit like an Acme thread with reverse locking collar, some adjustment for head space, locking up for the locking collar and some other cool ideas.
