Advice on Scope Welcomed

I have a ancient Leica. If you go that route I'd get a 2800.com. It's able to link to a kestrel or smart phone to get elevation/ windage adjusts.

Yes, did some reading on that, can use my phone to tell it what I am shooting, then get feedback.
On sale right now at Corlane sports for $805.
They also have a scope I'm considering on sale for $2000.
Those prices are Canadian dollars.

There's a TT 3-15x50 marksman on classifieds write now $3000, can't beat the scope or price ,will do anything you need.If I was sitting better write now id own it, for my 6.5 Prc up to one of my 338NM

I have two (2) Sig Sauer 4.5-14x50's with the BDX system that are fantastic when paired with Sig's bdx/kilo rangefinder's. See the links below #1 = scope, #2 = my rangefinder, and #3 = the concept of the really simple system.

Basically understand your ballistics, enter that data (only a few data points), pair the rangefinder with the scope, take a reading with the rangefinder and then the red dot automatically adjusts perpendicularly, and you put the dot on your target and fire. Really cool and very simple, which matters at the "moment of truth." They make a higher end version of my scope which might be of interest to you. Just a thought - have fun out there!!!

That sounds like amazing technology.
Especially if I ever start shooting out past 600 meters.

All of you guys have given me great advice, helped me learn, and are appreciated.
Hopefully when I choose nobody will be upset with me not going with their choice.

I was expecting many to recommend 1, 2, possibly 3 scopes. So it has been fun, but overwhelming, to get so many different choices given.

I've often wondered what it would have been like to be born in say 1925, instead of 1995, as things seemed simpler back then.

I'm compact, but actually pretty strong and fit for my size.

Most scopes I have looked at weigh between 20 & 26 ounces, so not a massive weight spread.
I have no doubt of your sturdiness. Lol! I was talking more about the size and weight of some of the options being thrown out.

There are quite a few pretty good scopes in the 24-34 oz range. It gets harder trying to stay in the 16-24 oz range. Decent glass often comes with a weight penalty. Great turrets are even more weight. Adding strength to hold all that solid ads more weight.

I limit myself to roughly 24oz in a light gun and 32oz in a std weight gun. I'm probably too high, but those are my limits. The problem with big scopes is they are often hard get behind. That will be harder with a smaller cheek to centerline.

$5000 Canadian is $3700 American.

So a range finder, if built into a scope, would be illegal?

Good to know, I guess then I also buy and carry a range finder.

I will be carrying it, I love walking in the woods.

I grew up in a big city, stayed there too long.

Moved to the country in June 2021 when I took a new job, best thing that ever happened to me.
I live on a 9000 acre property owned by my boss, and am his personal assistant. This is not a Hollywood movie job, where I get him coffee, and pick up his dry cleaning.
My job description is that I do anything and everything.
Week 1 i learned how to saddle and ride a horse, drive a tractor, a semi truck, excavator, manual transmission vehicles, dirt bike, ATV, round up cattle, fly a drone, unclog a water pump, pour concrete footings, and shoot a 22, but that was a warm up for the 2 plus years since. My confidence has grown a million times over, and my boss doesn't treat me like a 93 pound girl, but sees me as an equal.
Since then he bought me a Henry 30-30 and taught me to shoot with sights, I'm not bad at it, fly his airplane and helicopter, run every piece of equipment he owns, and gives me a lot of responsibility.

I like shooting his bigger guns as well, so bought myself a 7mm.
Do I know much about guns, no I don't, so here i am to learn.

So happy to no longer be an RN, and living the country lifestyle.
Holy cow, sounds like you are getting a crash coarse in living life and having fun, good for you on jumping in with both feet.👍

I to felt that, so put him on ignore.
Has that stalker or thief sort of vibe to me, neither of which is good.
Next it will be, so brand of gun safe, does it have a backdoor default way to get into it?

Put 2 on ignore already, don't need that in my life, peace and quiet is key.
I have one safe that has a default entry like you speak of, I do like it since one of mine messed up a week after I bought it, took the lock smith the company sent 2 weeks to get into it and had to replace the door 🤦‍♂️

Thanks.
Best decision of my life, loving life in the country.
Doesn't hurt either that my salary doubled, and living expenses were cut in half, so instead of living pay cheque to pay cheque, i have lots of disposable income for a change.

In the news the past few weeks has been many stories about a well know safe company, who built a backdoor way into their safes, and has been telling people about it. They should soon be going bankrupt.

Are there any long range shooting schools near you or within a reasonable distance to teach you how to effectively use your choices once they are made?

Which bullet did you settle on?

I have taken two courses so far, a basics course, and a more advanced course on shooting. Also my boss, and some coworkers shoot a lot, and have for decades, so they have been extremely helpful.
I would like to take another course sometime, being even more advanced than the last course. I've heard about a woman who teaches some advanced lessons, who only lives about 75 kms away, i am going to reach out to her this winter. It would be nice to take some lessons from another woman.

I've gone with Hornady ELDX 175 grain.

This is generally considered a guys sport, some look down on us females, others just want to hit on us, what would be great is if they instead treated us as equals.
We aren't lesser human beings than males, but some men treat us that way.
It is refreshing when guys treat us the same as they would a guy friend.

At 4'11" and 93 lbs, some people see me as unable to do anything.
They seem surprised by just how much I can do.

Women are typically a better shot than us men. Y'all have steadier hands. My wife shoots handgun much better than I do, rifles and shotguns not as much just because she doesn't shoot as much as I do. We don't think y'all are less we just have our pride to protect 😁

You, and most other men, respect women, and are kind.
But there is always that segment of the male population who don't, probably 5%. Honestly I don't think that they live very happy lives, so while annoying, I feel rather sad for them. I'm blessed to have an awesome boss and coworkers, who respect me.
