Advice on 6.5 factory production rifles for hunting

Do you really trust Remington right now, I have heard the quality is lacking.

Yup...it's a gen II so I know it was made during the "bad years." It's accurate and fit and finish is perfect. I also have an Remington 597, 870, and a 700 .30-06 ADL no issues with any of them. They were all made between 2003-2018. The Remington 700 ADL shoots crappy corelokt 150 grain ammo into an inch at 100 yards for 5 shot groups. I'm trying to find a pic to post it. I don't know if I have one.

Edit: remington 700 ADL, laminated stock, Nikon prostaff 2-7x32, Remington 150 grain Core-Lokts shot in October right before deer season. Grouped 5 shots, adjusted down for the 6th shot close to the bullseye. I think this rifle was built in 2006. Even though I love the rifle, my biggest complaint is the 6.5lb trigger!! It's all stock though. I like it too much to mess with it.

Before you buy check out a Fierce Fury.......they are excellent rifles and a 6.5 Creedmoor can be had for $$1,800 - $1,900. They absolutely guarantee 1/2 moa.......I have never heard any bad press about their product!

I haven't messed much with factory rifles for too long I guess. I'm reading so many accounts from so many of the lrh membership about the accuracy of factory rifles that I'm beginning to believe maybe they are that good. I used to get an accurate one now and then but it was a crap shoot. I helped a friend a couple years ago with his Tikka .270 and was surprised at the accuracy with a factory load it liked. I have a NULA .284 on order partly because I want guaranteed half minute accuracy and I've had good success with custom rifles. If it wasn't a NULA it would have been a Cooper Backcountry. All my Coopers have shot half moa or better. Here's a nice little group shot with my Cooper 22-250 the other day.

[/IMG] I bought the kids a savage axis xp2 with accu trigger. Its pillar boyds stock surprised me. The scope came as a cheesy weaver with ballisticx retical I believe. Total $400.After using it a few times I pretty much took it over. Went and bought another. After 5 elk and pile of deer it pretty my much mine. The retical proved to be quick. Factory 143eldx is 100zero then 230, 330, 430, 630 onthe duplex.[close] my son was able to get his little elk with it no problem at 300yards. I took one elk @515yard and my brother took one @515. Working good not having lapua blow the spotter over with muzzle brake.

I have had two Savage Max-1 rifles in 6.5x284. Still have one, sold the other to finance another purchase. Both are very accurate with 140 Bergers. Too bad Savage made them in a 24" tube instead of a 26". As far as aftermarket stocks, I am not aware of a replacement for the Accustock rifles.

65wsm.... just curious how you ended up with a Sako Finnlight with a 4 lb trigger. They are adjustable!!!!! Was that the adjusted weight? Just curious as I have several Sakos and never had that trigger issue. Just curious is all

Christensen Ridgeline in 6.5 Creedmoor can be had for $1650. Nice lightweight gun and they come with a Triggertech primary trigger. Every one that I've seen is sub MOA with factory ammo, don't need to go chasing seating depths and powder charges to get good accuracy.

I just ordered a Winchester Model 70 Supergrade. Will take as long as a custom potentially to receive. 264 WM. Triple A French Walnut. It's my nostalgia rifle or will be.
MFG in Potlrtugal now. So hopefully Quality is on par with my expectations.

This rig will go along with my custom 6.5-06 and my 6.5-06AI.

I have an addiction to the 6.5's.

I bought the browning xbolt hells canyon long range with the 26 " barrel a few months ago an I love it .only thing I dont like is the trigger . I'm getting a 1 3/4 group at 517 yards. With 140 grn Berger bullets reloads

Factory rifles have rally changed the last few years. i am really impressed the Ruger, Remington savage have really up graded quality. the AR even really a wide array of very accurate rifles and calibers . So many choices hit the gun stores and check those out. Scopes as well. Great time to be shooting.

Really?? What do you think us poor, blue collar, hard working, type people shoot? How many millions of rifles do you think are there out there that cost from $500 to $900 that are terrific rifles? Can you say Savage, how about Ruger, perhaps Winchester, Tikka, Howa, or a plethora of other rifles that are more than adequate to hunt any game animal on this planet? Do you think any of the above mentioned companies would be in business if they didn't manufacture a quality product? Good Grief man, get your nose out of the clouds, climb off your high horse and educate yourself about normal, average run of the mill people, who work their butts off doing every day jobs who can't even dream of a custom rifle, yet we spend enormous amounts of time in the woods and on the range, getting to know and thoroughly enjoying our, what you perceive as substandard rifles and gear. SHEESH!

@hadjii you should read other threads by the OP. He's had a rough year and he sold some nice stuff. You should be careful before you make an over generalized statement like that on a public forum.

Also, if you bothered reading his profile. He's a retired naval officer. I would say he's hardworking.
