Advice for drilling my Tikka stock

I put a factory riser on mine that's for a CTR or varmint. It's not adjustable though. One screw from the top.

I have put 4 of those type of cheek pieces on stocks and I think it's very important to drill 1/2 way from each side, place the riser on the stock where you want it and mark the spots on bothe sides where you want the bolts to be to allow for raising it up and down then drill from both sides. I used a regular twist drill and don't feed to fast for the first little bit so it doesn't gouge out at first. the risers work well, make sure you can get the bolt out where you place it fore and aft or you will have to unadjust the riser to take the bolt out

I too have put several of these adjustable risers on different types of stocks. Like Mr. Cram said go slow when drilling. I don't worry about the bolt when locating the riser. It needs to be fixed in a way that my cheek weld location is repeatable every time I shoulder it.

If the bolt comes in contact with the riser or is restricting it's being removed carefully use a dremal to cut a channel for it.
