Well I just got back from hunting in Ohio with my 11 year old son and having an awesome week…. So I decided to go again this morning. Killed a nice deer for North Florida.
229 yds with my Remington 7600 30-06. Got to be one of my most favorite rifles. Tack driver with most anything I tried in it. Used regular Ol grey box of Winchester Power Points 165.

Pretty sure 229 yards counts as long range in most of the places I've been in Florida! Great work on a great deer!
Thankfully, I had a cheap lil Walmart shooting stick with me…it was the lil Allen brand mono pod. Definitely not the quality of better sticks but it worked perfect and I was thankful for it. I use this rifle dog hunting as well and I keep it zeroed at 100 but I use the reticle for longer shots. Practice using it and it's been very accurate. Scope is a Vortex Diamondback
4-16…. Good scope for what I use this rifle for.

I have two or three pairs of shooting sticks, bipod and tripod that I've made out of old shovel handles, some limbs from a Colorado elk hunt, and one other I can't remember what I made it from. The tripod I made from the limbs is rock solid from a sitting position, and I've killed critters past 500 with them. It doesn't matter if you have the good stuff, or the homemade stuff as long as you can get your crosshairs still. Good job
