Absolute Hammer load data

If you have not already, you'll want to confirm your .270 wby barrel has a 1:9 twist. Most are 1:10, and the 139gr Absolute will not achieve adequate stability in a 'factory' twist barrel
The wby is currently at the smith getting a new 24" 1:8 Lilja screwed on. The creedmoor has a 1:7 and is currently shooting the 77gr Barnes LRX to .5 MOA. Biggest reason I'm trying the 22 cal hammers is there are no 77gr LRX on planet earth.

I'm just switching to the absolutes in couple of rifles and looking for some advice. I'm going to try the 139gr in a 270 Weatherby and the 73gr in a 22 creedmoor gas gun. Any suggestions on starting powders/burn ranges? When they say the absolutes like a fast powder, is it fast for caliber, or whole nother burn range fast? I'm thinking H4831 range for the weatherby, but could go H4350 or even H414. For the creedmoor I was thinking something in the H4350 range, or up to H414, could even go IMR4064. Powders I have are IMR4064, H414/W760, IMR4350, H4350, StaBall, Ramshot Hunter, H4831SC, MRP, Magpro.

Another question, is neck tension a substitute for crimp? I found a Lee Factory crimp die for the weatherby, but haven't been able to find one for the creedmoor. Would a smaller bushing be sufficient, or would a 22-250 crimp die work on the creedmoor?

Thanks
H4350 for the Roy, Varget or faster for the Beanmoor and neck tension will help but it's not a substitute for the FCD

Awesome! I think you are right in the ballpark with burn rate. I think H414 is likely to offer the most potential in the Weatherby, personally that is where I would start. Sorry I can't be of more help, but it sounds like your re on the right path. As yet, I have no experience with the 22CM

4350 was my plan

Thanks. In the Roy I'll run up a H414 and H4350 ladder and let the target and magnetospeed decide. I'll start with the IMR4064 in the CM.
When I finally get around to shooting I'll post some results.

Any suggestions on how to do a crimp on the CM with a LFCD not available?

Which seating die(s) have you got? A lot of seating dies have a crimp feature built into them. Confirm first, obviously, but it might be as simple as backing out the seater and then turning down the die. I have done this with in absence of a FCD.

The Lee version is preferable, however, and if Butterbean can set you up, you are all good!

I have the Hornady Custom Grade New Dimension seater. I could crimp with the seating die, but I agree the Lee would be preferable. Lee says the 22-250 LFCD works for 22-250 and 22-250AI. Wouldn't this work for the CM as it should fall somewhere in between the two - almost a 22-250 with a 30 deg shoulder? 22-250 can be fireformed to 22CM.

We can modify one most likely

What would I need to start with to modify?

It will work if the trim length is the same

Speaking of not believing things.... when are we seeing some data on the new 100gn Shock Hammer from the 300 RUM? Now that 30-06 meat season is over I need to get back to the big stick.
I have a ladder test ready to go in 300WM. Just need some warmer weather. They sure look funny though.
