I Agree 100%Lots of powders were and some still are , imr powders ,was know for that it still was top tier for many years , savy rifle shooters Just sighted in their rifles in cold weather ,many hunters are fair weather shooters and they wonder why their rifles shoot low in cold weather , just jawing cheers
I shooThanks.
I shot 2 does with the 140 AB, both were in very low light so the shots could have been off a little. One I trailed blood for about 200 yards before it crossed the property line into some really thick stuff. The other one I blood trailed for over 500 yards and lost it. Both were about 150-200 yard shots. My friend shot the 3rd doe with it and we never found much blood. But I shot 3 consecutive hogs with it at 350 yards and each one dropped, no matter where I hit it.
The 150 TTSX shot great for me, I only shot one deer with it at about 200 and DRT, but it was shot in the base of the neck. I just worry that the barnes won't expand enough or leave a big hole on a liver shot too far back.
I have a box of 150 sciroccos, might give them a try. Also thinking about the 168 VLD or the 162 ELDM
I shot my elk this year with hsm 168 vld at 500 drt. My rifle likes the 168s .5 moa with factory ammo is good enough for me.Thanks.

Try the 145LRX, with 25, you'll never shoot anything else for whitetail. The LRX is designed a little different then the TTSX. I love BOTH, but favor the LRX.I've also had good luck with RL 25 and the 150 TTSX
I bought a box of the 143 Hammers to try out, I've only made 2 trips to the range with them so far and still need to play with the seating depth. How do you think they compare to the LRX? I also have a box of those but haven't really played with them.Try the 145LRX, with 25, you'll never shoot anything else for whitetail. The LRX is designed a little different then the TTSX. ENJOY!
Sammy, I haven't tried the Hammers, I'm told they are AWESOME. But I do know that those 145 LRX shoot great, don't cost a small fortune, and they flatten deer! I've never had one fail, and every deer shot with them went to the freezer. No tracking needed EITHER. Good luck to you my friend. Lots of talent and experience here. I'm in the same boat as 7STW, I have never shot the Hammers but I have shot a pile of Barnes Bullets, Personally I think the 145 Barnes be an elk hammerI think the 145 LRX seem to be great bullets for antelope and deer, but a little on the light side for me on elk. I've got a thread about the 169gr Hammer Hunters. I think this would be the perfect one bullet load....still fast enough for a long range Antelope shot, good for a deer and would be solid enough for an elk. Hope the weather improves so someone can get out there and see what it will do. I'd like to order some loaded from Copper Creek, but need the data to do so. Obviously, I'm not a handloader.
What's your experience with seating depth/jump for the 145 LRX? When I tried out the 150 TTSX in my old barrel, it did best right at 3.600" OAL. I think I tried the 145 in that same barrel at 3.67" and it only shot ok. I assume the LRX might like less jump since it is a "long range" bullet, but I could be wrong.Sammy, I haven't tried the Hammers, I'm told they are AWESOME. Sammy, I forget the exact measure, but I'm sure it was at the first groove in the top of the bullet. They like to jump, and can't be seated like a lead core bullet. My rifles shot that bullet like a 22.250 on steroids. My velocity was 3460, chronographed. I think I was at 3.620, so you are there, or abouts. I was shooting RL25, at 81 grains, 215GMM, WINCHESTER brass. IIt used to be good years ago, now it's junk. What's your experience with seating depth/jump for the 145 LRX?
