I'm thinking about re-stocking my 7mm stw from an HS Precision pro series sendero stock to a McMillan M40a or something similiar. If anyone can post their STW with the stock they have, I'd appreciate it. My HS precision stock is nice, but I prefer a thin area as opposed to the thicker palm swell on the HS Precision. I'll be selling the stock thereafter.

I'll post my gun pics shortly. Maybe tonight. I have a stiller predator action, jewel trigger, and Broughton 26" # 5 contour sporter barrel. It's a shooter.

Also, I have a connection for brass and was thinking about doing a group buy, maybe 5000 catridges. Anyone interested in joining in?

Thanks,
Ed
Ed,
I would be enterested and both my hunting partners in the your brass deal. What type of brass is it and the big question is price. We are in AL. , pretty lonely down here when it comes to the 7stw. I haven't spoke with them yet , but I am sure they would want 200 to 400 pieces each. Please advise.

It's good to know that there are others out there that love this great round also, it is a spectacular round and I am amazed at what it will do at long range.
I own two rifles for now, both Remington 700's, built the first one in 1995 on a 700 action that was a 7RM. I took the rifle to my gunsmith to rebarrel with a 28in. stainless custom barrel to gets more velocity with 160gr. bulllets. When I got there, he introduced me to the 7stw and the rest is history.
The first rifle is an accurized 700 action with a 26in. stainless #5A Douglas barrel bedded in a plain ole adl Remington plastic stock topped off with a Leupold 3.5x10x50 vari-x III held on by 2 piece dual dove tail rings and bases. This rifle will shoot whatever you put though it and shoots 1/2 moa constantly with anything.
The second rifle is an accurized 700 stainless action with a remington 26in. barrel rechambered to 7stw bedded in a plain ole plastic Remington stock topped off with another Leupold 3.5x10x50 vari-x III. This one doesn't shoot as well, but will shoot under a moa with 160gr.AB's and is a lot easier to tote when hunting. This rifle seems to have a "fast" barrel and likes hot loads. 78gr. Of IMR7828sc with 160gr.AB's. I will chrono it soon to see.
Remington is doing their best to kill it and I can't figure that out at all, it is a better round than the 7RUM and hopefully we we haven't hitched a ride on a falling star or another flash in the pan not being able to get brass, but I guess there is more than one way to skin a cat when it comes to getting brass.:D

I'm always interested in getting brass for my Sendero 7mm STW. Who's the man., i.e., Remington, Winchester, Nosler...?

Thanks!

Just send me a private message about rem 7mm stw brass. I'm not in business and have no interest in making a profit. I just think a group buy would save us all. I don't mind doing it and I'll give you the name of the guy I bought my last batch from and in the future you will have a good source to call.

Mine is a 70's, 700 remington. Started its life as a 7mm B, and was rechambered for the STW. Hill country rifles worked over the action and it has Jewell trigger, talley mounts. 3.5 X 10 Bdc Leupold scope, and H-S stock. Its very picky about loads but most accureate load is 160 TSX with max amounts of H-1000. The AB shoots best with RL-19, and the 175 PT also goes with the RL-19. Two elk so far both at modest ranges. The 175 PT is now my elk bullet. It prefers Nosler cases also.

WeLl, it' s about time that the brotherhood get to share a few words. I have 3 STW's. My first is a stock Sendero
that I bought when they first came out. This thing shoots like a house ' a fire. It loves 140 nosler ct.'s and 79-0 , rl22' and a 215 spark plug @ 3.660. Number two is a semi custom. It has a medium contour 27.5 hart barrel 9.25 twist. It likes 78.3-7828-150 BT, or ct. Number threes is a Sako 75. I bought it on Christmas eve with my son with me. We ran into it by accident, and I had to have it. It was from a Sako collector. I believe it to be about 8 years old, but iwas was UNFIRED. As of now,it has about 72 rounds down the barrel. The barrel cleans up very nicely, and the trigger is SWEEEEEEET ! It so far has shown me that it does not like 140's. That's ok. But is has shown me that it prefers 160 class, whether it be 160' or 168. It REALLY likes the 162 a-Max and 76.5 - RL 22 @ 3.700 coal. I have some 160 fail safes, and if I can get her to shoot them, that wil be the cats meow. Those bullets are awesome. Also, there is a STW barrel in the classifieds here, that has me interested. It has a brake installed on it. The price is decent and I am very temped to buy it, and install it on a " donor" action that I have. Guys, I love this round. It has all of the best going for it. Good bullet selection, especially now, fast, accurate, and most of all, it is SHOOTABLE. It is about the most overbore that a seven can be. The 7 RUM, is just TOO much of a good thing, and to me, I think they are going away. Layne Simpson did it right. If I could only have ONE gun, well, you know what it would be. Last but not least, these rifles are like lightening on deer. They are the equivalent of a varmint rifle, in any set up, and shoot **** near as flat as a 22-250. And that my friends is flat. ( got one of them too, imagine that!). To all of the Brotherhood, that is my story, and I'm sticking to it!
AIM SMALL, MISS SMALL. :D :) 7STW.

That load for your Sendero is like magic. I shot that EXACT same load in mine for years and it was amazing and worked just as well in other rifles that I turned people on to.

Just got back from rifle range and was testing some Retumbo, and H1000 loads with 162 A-Max, and 168vld's. Well, accuracy wise, the A-Maxes were the clear winner. My load was 79.6-Retumbo- 162 @ 3.702 coal. Velocity was 3034 ave, ES,22- SD-10. I had 1 string that I received no data on, my fault. I had pushed the reset button, and did not clear it before I shot. I also shot some 160 fail safes. Good speed, but lousy accuracy. I shot another group with 168 VLD's, with 79.6 -H1000 @ 3.696. velocity average was 3068. Accuracy was fair, but not great. However, my backstop when I chronographed these loads was only at 100 yds. The Bergers seem to stabilize better AFTER 100 yards. Anyway, these loads are encouraging. I know that I have a little headroom on the chrarges and velocity. In my Sierra book, I am at max now, but I have NO pressure signs. One point of interest that I want to pass along, is that I did a little experiment with primers. I did not use a mag primer today. I used the Winchester WLR standard primer. I have been having great luck with it in my 7 mags, and just wanted to try it. I believe that it keeps the ES lower in most cases. Just an update. This was my Sako 75. Just bought another Sendero barrel in 7STW from classifieds a few minutes ago from Longhauler.

I Have hunted with a STW in a Rem. Custom Shop mountain rifle for 15 years or more.
It has a Burgess brake that I haven't had on the gun for just about as many years.
Topped with a 3-12x50 Swaro Hab. The gun bare comes in at under 5 3/4 lbs. It's the
older real light weight McMillan stock. ADL style. Shoots 3/4 moa all the time and frequently I see 3/4" groups at 300 yards. I've always shot 162 Hornadys but am
going to work up a load with some of the Bergers for the higher BC they offer. H1000
has been the powder but it doesn't develop the speed of some of the other powders
so I may change there also. Great gun, dropped a lot of game and plan on dropping a
lot more.

My rifle started out as a Rem 700 Sendero, but has become a semi custom to this point. I sent it to Rbros and he did some custom work on it. It's painted, bedded, has a DE brake and Jewell trigger. She shoots very well, but I am still trying to get some great loads with the 168 and 180 Bergers VLD's. I plan to replace the barrel soon. I will post a photo in the next few days.
