7mm STW and Reloder 25

Just got a 7-300Weatherby. Built in the mid 90s. Grandfather of the 7STW
Harold Wolfe built it, designed it. He said to shoot 165 gr at least.
To keep from burning the barrel.
just sayin. He knew his stuff

Sounds right! I have two 7mm STW's and rebarrled both two months ago. One with a Proof carbon the other with a Bartlein, both 28" same round 168 ABLR over Retumbo. The difference is surprising, the Bartlien is over 100 fps faster with four different loads from 150 gr to the 195 gr EOL each one was approx 100 fps slower in the Proof compared to the Bartlien!

Those are the speeds I was looking for when I went with the STW. I shot a test with H1000 on Thursday from 77.7 to 82.2 grains (Berger max) in 1/2 grain increments. Top speed was 3,046. QL shows 82.2 grains as near max with a speed of 3,123. Also shot tests with H4831, IMR 4350, IMR 7977, and IMR 8133 up to book max and none exceeded 3,100.

No doubt that I can push things a little harder since QL shows 82.2 grains of H1000 only reached 56,000 psi. Problem is there is not a lot of room left between book max and the "Dangerous Load - Do Not Use" loads in QL. In order to reach 3,450 with H1000, QL says I need 90.4 grains of H1000 (109% fill). I am convinced that I'm just wasting my time and components doing further testing with this barrel.

Have used all of them but the Enduron's 8133 which I have on the shelf, Retumbo out performs them all and yes my load is maxed out and would not use this load above 60 degrees
