7MM RUM??

What he said ^^^^^^^^^^^.JakeWes.

I'm shooting the 143 H.H out of my 7RUM at 3436fps. For the past couple years.
This is a mild load but Very accurate.
I might have to try the 131.👍🤓

What will whare a barrel out quicker, a load like Jake's above ( shorter bullet with less bearing surface at 3850 fps) or a load like mine (longer 180g burger at 3100 fps).
Barrel wear is not caused by bullets travelling down it, it is the heat and flame length of the powder behind the bullet, the unburnt powder travelling at bullet speed, barrel temperature and how quickly, or slowly, that heat sinks into the steel. You must realise that HEAT and TIME are important, the heat is hot enough to melt steel, but the time is not sufficient to melt the steel.

One amazing thing about most ADI Extreme powders is that throat erosion slows considerably.
When I had my 2 7RUM's, if 7828 had of been temp stable, maybe I could've gotten another 200 rounds passed 800 shots, however, that was the slowest powder available.
Today, I would be using H50BMG, excellent powder and nice on throats.

Cheers.

7828 is what I am running at least for now. I do have some Retumbo that I picked up for better temp. Stability but have not worked up a load with it yet and did not think that it could be easier on barrel. Do you think it would be easier on the throat?

Yes, but not as nice as H1000 is. 7828 is just as erosive as other non-temp stable powders.

Cheers.
