7mm Rem Mag 175 eld-x verses 175 ABLR WOW!!!!!

After determining seating depth I run a ladder test increasing my charge weight .3 grain up to the max charge or where I start seeing pressure signs. Then I go back and shoot the nodes. I've had great success with H4831 in the 7mag.

Reloder 26 has given fantastic results from a 7 mag. 180 VLD at over 3000 fps, no pressure signs and good brass life. The factory rem 700 long range shoots consistent .5-.6" groups every time as well.

Wow that is something. Over 3000fps with a 180gr and no pressure signs. My old 7mm mag can't even get there.

You see lots of people getting that performance with Reloder 26. It's an outstanding powder for top velocity. Very low e.s. as well, and in my experience it isn't affected much by temperature, though I don't usually shoot much over 80-85 degrees here in Wyoming.

Thanks Jeff. I will give this a try.

stick with what works for you. I havent had luck with the LRAB's but my buddy does great w them out of his cooper. love the exits at long range. Like was mentioned earlier, Nosler BC's seem to be inflated but if its accurate just shoot it and figure out the dope.

I have shot elk and deer from 75 - 480 and have yet to have a bullet not penetrate. I will say i never try to shoot any animal in the shoulder and I can not understand why anyone would.

Shoot them in the shoulder. best way down. 7mm is the magic shoulder breaker. likely be lucky and get a mushroom from the underside of the hide on the opposite side.

I've used a high shoulder shot when I need an animal to drop right there. Very effective but I'll be using a tough bullet for that shot. Barnes have worked quite well.

Good shooting. Other than when I first got my 300WM several years ago, I've had trouble getting the 190 and 210 NABLR to shoot well. To be fair, I haven't had great luck with the ELDX in 30 cal either.

Also, though it's just one example, my buddy shot a medium sized whitetail with a 150 gr NABLR out of a 7-08, and it completely disintegrated. Deer was at 410 yds, 2650 fps MV (probably about 2100 fps impact), and because of a horrific shot, hit 16" forward of aim point in the lower neck meat. It struck no bone, and still only penetrated about 6" and came apart into tons of tiny fragments. Thankfully, this was a case of everything going wrong from shot to bullet performance, but with a DRT result, as it mangled the deer's neck like a shark had taken a bite out of it.

Anyway, just a word of caution from my own experience. I've heard lots of folks have had good results.

I have been shooting the 175 ABLR's for 5 years now with great results on game. I had someone dial it in for me and I ended up with 58.5 gr. of H4831. Which is about 2700fps out of my Cooper with a 26" barrel. I am trying to push the velocity closer to 2850 - 2900. At 64 gr. I had the first 2 shots at 1/2 and the third one war about 1 1/8" high. Then at 66 gr. I had the 2 touching and the 3rd 1 1/2" high. I am new to reloading, any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Are you letting the barrel cool between shots. 3rd shot may walk with a hot barrel.

I usually take 3 shots and then let it cool. But that does make sense. It is frustrating to have 2 of the 3 shots even touching each other and then the third off as much as an inch. I always thought it was my shooting. How cool do you let it get before the next shot?
