7mm PRC

Jumping in on this thread. About to start loading my first rounds through my 7PRC. 22" Proof barrel, loading Hammer Hunter 169gr. I currently have H1000 and looking to build with N560, N565, and N568. CC215 Primers and hornady brass. I'll report back in a couple weeks with results.

For velocity, my money is on N565 (max 71gr @ 101.7% fill and 100% burn) with the HH169's, although you may have a slightly compressed load before you hit max pressure. If that's an issue, N560 (max 68.5gr @ 97.6% fill, 100% burn) would fit the bill. It'll boil down to which VV powder shoots better in your rifle. I'd skip over N568.

So in my 24" CA 7PRC, the HH 169 like 66.2 gr N560 with Peterson Brass with the GM 215M running 3043 Ave with single digit SD's. I have right at 100 rounds through the gun and it has started to smooth out where it cleans up with only a couple patches. N560 at 67.5 starts showing some flatting of the primer and crescents from the plungers and slightly stiffer bolt so for now I am call it Max in my gun. I have N565 and N570 along with Re26 still to try once all my brass is Fire formed to that chamber.

N560 was my choice of powder for my 7 PRC as well. 65.5 Gr with the 170 Gr HHT.

..there's othing this new fangled wannabe can do that your plain Jane ho-hum 7mm mag has been doing for 75 years in the hunting world, NOTHING ! As they say if it hain't broke.........

You can have your old girl converted to a 7 mm PRC by a gun Smith if you wish. 7mm PRC will Wipeout a 7mm Rem Mag chamber. Also Hornady admitted to there ammo being loaded with a different powder that doesn't give the same fps as original ammo.
