7mm PRC die recommendations

John does not make them anymore.
Interesting, I contacted them this morning and there reply was this. IMG_4760.jpeg

Did you talk to them over the phon or send the item and they tried to fix it? Did they offered any resolve for the second occurrence? I never had issues with my Forster.
Talked to them on phone.
They sent new die.
New die did same thing.
Great CS but sometimes you have to move on after two fails.

That's good to know, because there were a few LRH members that tried and were tiold they are no longer making them. John built me a hydraulic forming and reloading dies.

I went back on the thread, and it appears, it is only on custom dies. Sorry, my bad.

I went to Short Action Customs for my sizing dies for the last couple rifles I built, 6.5 and 7 PRC. Really like them and their bushing system. I will be replacing others with SAC.

I too went with the Redding Master Hunter die sets for my 7mmPRC and 22CM, excellent dies!

I just got a set from Bruno Shooters for 6.5PRC, good price on the set, and got to my door in 2 days. Still waiting on the brass...I see they have the 7mm PRC set for $175, which is a pretty good price, and they don't charge use tax for out of state purchases, could help non-Arizona residents (I resemble that remark) and only like $8 or $9 or flat shipping charge.

But the one thing I wanted to say that I remembered upon opening this set, and I have this problem with all Redding sets...

I use the Hornady Lock-N-Load bushings on my press, and I always replace the adjuster with the clamp style, Redding uses the set screw with a brass tip to push into the threads and hold the adjuster. I like using the Hornady clamp style, and they work fine, but the one issue is when you have both the busing and the clamp ring adjuster on, the micrometer seater is hard to fit in unless you separate the bushing from the ring adjuster. I hope that makes sense. When I'm reloading a caliber, it's not an issue, but when I'm done it's a PITA so I just toss the dies in the box and they don't close and create a huge mess after I stack a couple on top of each other...

You would think that Redding would have changed those boxes after all these years, I can't be the only person that has complained about that...it's just the way their ring lock fits in there, and the clamp ring and bushing prevent it from fitting in the slot. Just an annoyance, I seem to keep buying Redding dies, but the Forster micrometer look nice also. I've never used one.

Interesting. Did you have the same problem with other brass?
I did not try any other PRC brass. Shoot 300WM ADG brass and have not had an issue, but that is with RCBS dies. That was actually my first and only Forster sizing die. I have a few Forster seating that I really like but I will continue using what I have always used (RCBS, Redding) for sizing. Trying to find the best sizing die for 7PRC for hunting Loads. I'll keep using the Forster seating die

Did you clean the die before you resized? The guy that taught me how to reload some 30+ years ago had a problem and made a point to have me clean the dies before I used them. That crap could cause a sticky case, possibly something to consider.

They have a micrometer seater that uses a Mitutoyo micrometer. First time I had seen that on their site. Not a bad idea... 👍
